2015 Audi R8 Rendering Home

This is a rendering of the 2015 Audi R8 envisioned by artist Lutz Valdeig. Valdeig’s rendering differs from Sebastian Kunz’s recent rendering in that this R8 represents the brand’s overall design theme. Kunz’s rendering (below) is based off the Nanuk concept.

While both designs look fantastic, Valdeig’s approach looks more plausible for its nod to the future. Kunz’s design already looks dated.

Both renderings feature a split side blade … a departure from the current-gen car’s prominent one-piece side blade, which has been the subject of simultaneous commendation and condemnation. The new two-piece treatment achieves the current blade’s goal of making the car’s side profile more orderly while being less garish to sensitive eyes.

The latest reports say the first-gen car’s engines will carry over, but a significant amount of weight will be lost in translation; the next R8 is expected to weigh less than 3,300 pounds. Significant weight loss and a 25-horsepower boost to the carryover power plants means we’re looking forward to an Audi R8 that goes as fast at it looks.

The next R8 will be built at a new factory in Böllinger Höfe and is confirmed for launch next year.
