Besides knowing the R36 GT-R is confirmed for 2016, there is little else we know about what’s next for Nissan’s supercar. Luckily, the folks at Top Speed have powered up their future goggles and produced a comprehensive design study of what the R36 GT-R could look like. These renderings are so good, you’d think Top Speed was working off leaked information.

With the next GT-R to be revealed in two years, it looks like next year’s 570-horsepower GT-R NISMO will be the R35’s swan song.

If reports are to be believed, the GT-R NISMO will be able to accelerate to 60 mph in 2.0 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating production car ever built. Unbelievable, right? Who knew the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport could be made to look slow with its 2.5-second 0-60 time?

The GT-R NISMO is expected to appear in showrooms by spring 2014. That should hold Godzilla fans over until the R36 arrives.
