SavageGeese Proclaims McLaren 570S Spider as High IQ Supercar

By -

This video review takes a deep look into how the McLaren 570S Spider takes the approach of being a thinking man’s supercar.

In terms of something pure, there’s nothing better than a supercar. If you want pure ostentatiousness, then Lamborghini has you covered. If you want something steeped in exclusivity, then Ferrari will make you buy other Ferrari’s until they think you’re good enough to own the one you really want. However, if you want a daily driver supercar, then McLaren will dial down the exager-o-meter and sell you exactly what you want. In this video from the SavageGeese YouTube channel, they take us on a tour of every important aspect of the McLaren 570S Spider.

McLaren 570S Spider review

Of course, we’re being a little facetious. Ferrari and Lamborghini will happily sell you something you’ll enjoy driving the hell out of every day. But when it comes to supercars, McLaren have been taking an almost counter-culture approach to their core values. The 570S Spider is one of those cars. From the simplicity of doing an oil change to the complete disregard of electrical steering assists, the driver is front and center. The way the spider aspect is designed and built, the driver loses little, if anything, in performance with the roof off.

In the supercar world where numbers and bragging rights are everything, the 570S Spider makes 562 horsepower from an engine happy to scream its way to 8200 rpm. It’ll get you from 0-60 in 3-seconds and run the quarter mile around 10-seconds. But, it’ll also cruise all day comfortably on bad roads while people crane their necks to get you into their Instagram feed. Then into the windy roads, it’ll make you grin and keep your passenger pumped on adrenaline. McLaren is bringing us a consistently refreshing take on the supercar, and a welcome one at that.

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars.
