Spied: Jaguar F-Type R Coupe

The Jaguar F-type R coupe has been spied testing at the Nürburgring. Jaguar has crammed a 542-horsepower blown 5.0L V8 between the F-Type R’s front fenders. That may be too much motor for the Jag. The current range-topping F-Type V8 S is already a loose cannon with its 495-horsepower supercharged 5.0L V8.

We’re glad these spy shots were taken on the Nürburgring. Jaguar will need to deluge its prototypes with Green Hell test miles to prepare the F-Type’s chassis for another horsepower waterboarding. If Mercedes-Benz could tame the SLS AMG in Black Series spec, we have faith Jaguar can do the same for the F-Type R, which is scheduled for a late 2013 reveal. Sales will commence in 2014.
