2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray vs 2014 Nissan GT-R Home

Last week we brought you the track test battle between the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the 2013 SRT Viper. This week, it’s ‘Vette versus GT-R. The Corvette has no real competition, so comparing it to other fast sports cars like the Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911, Cayman, BMW M3 or Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 shows how versatile the Corvette is. It’s a car designed to do all things well; therefore, it can effectively compete with a constellation of sports cars. The only car that can beat the Corvette, no questions asked, is the Porsche 911, but for those who care about price, even that is a tough call.

While the Nissan GT-R handily trumps the C7 Corvette in most performance areas, Edmunds prefers the Chevy; they even call it the better car overall, price notwithstanding.

If you’re curious about the cost comparison, the ‘Vette in the video lightens wallets by $69,675. The Nissan GT-R Track Edition vaporizes bank-vaults to the tune of $116,995.

One thing we noticed in this video is how entertaining it is to watch the GT-R rush through the 600-foot slalom. The Nissan tackles the cones with such technical élan, it’s almost more satisfying to watch the GT-R drive fast, than to drive it fast … almost.
