True Collector's Dream: Immaculate Imported R34 GT-R

With only 282 built, this Midnight Purple II V-Spec example is truly rare, and sold for $314K at a BringATrailer auction.

One of the best looking examples we have seen of the absolute ’90s tuner champion, the R34 Nissan GT-R, has come up for sale on the ever popular Bring A Trailer.  It is very rare to even see an R34 stateside and there are few imported examples existing.

Not exactly a car you can see everyday on the freeway. This is mostly due to the continuing expensive hassle it is to get one imported over without chasing some tricky loopholes.

However, the seller, known as Yoojeankim, recently imported over this Midnight Purple II V-Spec model back in 2020 under the NHTSA Show or Display exemption. This implies you will drive the car less than 2,500 a year.

No using the GT-R for the morning commute unfortunately. The seller is without a doubt in no shortage of quality vehicles however.

His past listings on the site have included a 41k-Mile 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX Special Edition (sold for $39k) and a 1988 E30 BMW M3 (sold for $60k). Both sold in 2020, both rare vehicles. It looks like the owner knows what they are doing!

Not to mention, we spotted a fourth generation Toyota Supra and a Porsche GT2 RS in the same garage as this R34 GT-R in the auction photos. This individual definitely knows what their doing.

Condition is about as good as it gets for a 2 decade old vehicle

With only about 40k miles on the odometer, this GT-R is definitely a well-cared for example (an average of less than 2k miles a year). It has recently had some major maintenance taken care of as well.

The beautiful V-Spec aero pieces really give the car that little extra bit of aggression to make it stand out while still looking OEM. Of course, the standout feature of this GT-R is the stunning Midnight Purple II paint.

Certainly one of the prettiest OEM colors ever, this color-shifting metallic is simply an unforgettable view when seen in person. This particular detail makes this R34 one of the 282 examples finished in this color.

The only true modification on the car is a set of quality Öhlins coilovers, while all OEM parts will be included with the purchase. The interior is extremely well-kept as well, with all the plastics and trim looking incredibly new.

The engine bay, obviously detailed to perfection, is no different. You know a car is clean when the undercarriage looks spotless as well.

High prices, No Surprises

Demand for these incredible machines has definitely not decreased. Their rarity only increases and the prices go along with that fact.

With the bid sitting quietly for a bit at $253,000 with over 27 total bids since it came to offer, there was a lot of open interest on this particular example.

Of course, we weren’t surprised to see this one sell for more than $300,000, considering recent historical pricing on V-Spec sales. Record sale pricing for a R43 GT-R is currently is about $472,000.

One thing is for certain, who ever ended up winning the auction now owns one of the finest R34s anywhere!
