TUSCC Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix Starts Sunday

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship heads to California’s scenic wine country for a pair of 2 hour sprint races. All four classes will be competing, for a total of 54 cars taking the green flags for the fourth round of the 2014 championship. The Prototype Challenge cars will be racing with the GT Daytona class with the Prototypes and GT Le Mans cars taking to the track later in the day.

In the prototype class, the DeltaWing makes its return to action piloted by Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick. In total there are 12 entries in the Prototype class, seven of which are Le Mans style cars. The Le Mans style prototypes have yet to capture a win from the Daytona prototypes. The No. 5 Corvette DP of Action Express Racing holds onto a slim 5 point lead in the championship over the No. 01 Ford EcoBoost DP of Chip Ganassi Racing.

In PC, the No. 54 machine of CORE Autosport is enjoying a 12 point lead over the No. 25 of 8Star Motorsports.

In GTLM the No. 55 BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE is leading the No. 911 and 912 911 RSR’s of Porsche North America. The Corvettes are hoping to carry the momentum of their win in Long Beach to Laguna Seca where they have been successful in the past.

In GTD the No. 555 Ferrari 458 Italia of AIM Autosport has a comfortable 12 point lead over the #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Audi R8. With only 4 points covering second through sixth, the GTD points battle is already heating up.
