Watch the Viper GTS-R Attack Virginia International Raceway

SRT’s new Viper is a sexy, fast, machine that we can’t wait to see hit the streets. In the mean time, the GTS-R race car is getting ready for entrance into ALMS. That makes this, technically, the first new Viper that we’ve seen in motion doing any kind of hard driving. This is another video where the pilot isn’t screwing around behind the wheel.

Of course, this has no bearing on how the production car will turn out. Judging by this video though, the 8.4L V10 is quite enough to send the Viper scrabbling across the pavement. This one is all racey, but the stock version will still make 640hp with a ridiculous torque curve. At 4,950 rpm it makes 600lb.-ft of torque. Viper has dominated with this formula of huge displacement and low-revs before. It’ll be interesting to see how it fares when it returns to racing.
