What Is the Single Greatest Car Scene in Movies?

Every now and then, while cruising the deep and cavernous terrain of the 6speedOnline archives, you’ll happen upon a gem of a thread, which died too early. That’s what happened to me recently when I discovered one of the most important conversations that has ever transpired here. It began nearly a decade ago when member, TKDalumni, started a thread titled “Greatest Movie Car Scene.”

For his nomination, TKDalumni offered up the ridiculous showcase of European sport sedans on display in the heist film, Ronin (shown below). That TkDalumni didn’t place a question mark in the title of his thread speaks volumes as to how he feels the scene should rank. But still, he did start the thread, so he ostensibly opened up the floor to other nominations as well.

While many who replied definitively agreed with TKDalumni’s Ronin assessment, there have been plenty of other good recommendations too: Bullitt, The Blues Brothers, and The French Connection, to name some of the most worthy contenders. But the problem is that we only have a three-page thread at the moment, and there have been four Fast & Furious movies released since the last response. For such an important conversation, that’s just unacceptable. There’s a million more scenes to choose from, especially if you keep in mind the fact that it doesn’t have to be a chase scene. A “car scene” merely means that a car is a driving force in the scene, (no pun intended).

So what are you waiting for? Chime in with your favorites so we can come up with a final answer to this ever-pressing ten-year-old question.
