Young Talent Reimagines an E36 BMW 3

Young SEMA Builder Ties Together Work and Play
Combining aerospace quality machine work with automotive modification is the unspoken recipe for success. This is exactly what a young machinist named Dylan (@pdx_vert) paired together to reimagine his “GMW E36” build. It was recently shown at SEMA in the Toyo Tires “tread pass” area and was well received for having a deep level of detail and ingenuity tied together within this highly customized chassis.
The build started off as a sad story of being totaled due to an accident from the previous owner. Dylan took the car in and decided to tube the front suspension components that were damaged. He saved as much of the original frame as possible, while tying in DOM tubing and custom machined mounting points.

On his free time and weekends, he also designed a center-locking wheel and hub combination. Dylan’s design is inspired by Porsche and BMW factory components. The intention was to bring in a unique way of holding the custom machined wheel in such a way where it still appeared to be factory. The finished form is a very “OEM+” approach with functionality to back it.

The E36’s original powertrain was removed and replaced with a junk-yard pulled LS motor paired with a 6Speed T56 transmission. Topped with individual throttle bodies after being fully rebuilt in his home garage, the LS is destined to be used as purely a street cruiser.

I am excited to see what young builders such as Dylan come up with next. Their approach already pushes beyond what the industry currently normally achieves.
