356 Speedster replica's.
i bought one from vintagespeedsters in 2000...$16k, loaded, new engine...went on a job in 03 to s.korea and took the car with me...an instant celebrity...mags, music vids, photoshoots, etc... girls would ask for rides
the only 356 of any kind there at the time...3 years later, sold it for a tidy profit too...awesome memories....i'll be getting the ivory one when the economy turns...whenever that will be...

I want one and VW engines, underpowered
I have a few friend's with bugs that can prove that wrong. I just missed one, I have a 69 912 engine forthe correct look (at a power loss, BTW)
My mother use to own & race a Speedster back in the 50s

I'll post a link to photos here once the weekend is over and I've had a couple days to organize and upload the photos - I've learned that the Intermeccanica folks will be there with a couple cars so several manufacturers of replicas as well as owners of various manufacturers' 'factory built' and kit cars will be there - speedsters and spyders....

SO ... What is the general consensus on which company makes the BEST replica ... Who is the Porsche of replicas? ... Some of you guys who go to these replica meets should be able to tell us which car maker stands out from the rest in terms of craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail??
Thanks,
Dario
Thanks,

IMO - Intermeccanica is the best - be prepared to dig deep in your wallet - but they make great replicas.....if you choke at their price there are some very very good alternate suppliers:
Vintage Speedsters (So California)
Special Edition (Indiana - bought the Beck distribution for the US for Chamonix Bodies/Frames / Brazil)
.
there are others who get either mixed reviews or with whom I'm not familiar...

As the owner of a real 1957 Speedster....... and as my first post, I would say, do it if you love the styling, but please don't try to pass it off as authentic.... too many folks try too hard to do it - Love the styling, love the car, and enjoy it for what it is.
