Sad News about OUR ben lj, Ben Keatons.......
I haven't met Ben personally though recall the insights, experiences and passion he imparted through numerous threads/discussions going back to 2001 and funcarsonline.com. I'll miss enjoying his shared enthusiasm.
This event really reminds me how precious life and family really is. Today, I have a wife, 4yr old son and another son arriving in August, after fully recovering from almost losing my life in a serious sportbike accident back in late 1999 (With a Titanium rod in my leg to show). I truly realize how every single person affects those around them in some way, actively or passively, now and in the future. After spending more than an hour reading this entire thread amongst the pelican parts thread and Rennlist, It's inspiring to know that someone like Ben has had a profound affect on a community of enthusiasts alike: A generous gentlemen and sportscar enthusiast to look up to.
May his memories draw all friends, acquaintences and family closer together.
I wish the best to his wife and children knowing that they feel the friendship and warmth all of you have given him. Rest in peace, Ben and smile on a lifetime of accomplishments though cut short.............

I am deeply sorry to hear about fellow enthusiasts losing their lives. It is an ugly fact about our love for speed, and especially hits hard for me as I have lost many friends in the past to the same addiction. We never know when our time is up till it happens. The Nissan community lost a friend of many years recently to an airplane crash. So it is exceptionally painful when members of a board I moderate decided to make snide and ignorant comments inlight of the situation. I believe their comments to be exceedingly irresponsible, and it is for this commentary that I apologize on behalf of NICO.
For those of you that knew him, please give our condolences to the family members and friends.
You guys are awesome. Ben's wife and the baby have got friends and family around them tonight. I got a call from Ben on the caller Id today on my cell, but when I picked up it wasn't him, it was her. Very sad day. I'm not coming up to CC Saturday, staying down here now. Hopefully he'll be around with you for a quick visit in spirit...I'm not a religious guy, but if it were possible for him to come in spirit to share his enthusiasm, friendly conversation and to do one last rev-up and peel-out with a smile on his face, you know he'll be there. I don't have to tell you how much he loved that car, and all of us car people too. Miss my friend Ben. See you guys soon.
I posed a couple of ideas to Porsche Babe (Michelle) who spoke w/Shank and DJ and graciously volunteered to help organize some gesture from all of us in the community. One idea, is an album with thoughts and anecdotes and pictures, something hard-bound that his daughter and wife can read in the future and see just how much he meant to us, and how much our lives were touched, and what kind of person we thought he was. Another idea, maybe to do also, is a simple web site where we can all centrally post our tribute thoughts and photos, where we can all share in one place online. This is somewhere that his wife and daughter can visit later, and for the current time too, a central spot where Michelle can collect the content for the album. Ben's wife most likely won't get to read these things for a little while, as she's got a lot to deal with, but we should all let it out while it's fresh in our minds. Sharing out thoughts and experiences from the heart would be really meaningful. The shared memories and feelings are far more impactful than any physical thing IMO. I've got some to share for sure.

Guys, its like 3am CST, and I can't sleep, just thinking about this. I threw up an hour ago, and the last time I did that from tragedy was on "9/11." This could have been any of us.
We are playing with amazing machines, ones that god blessed us with the ability to succeed and buy. Our lives can be ripped away as fast as Ben's was. I will tell you every time I step into my cars, I will think about Ben, and I know many of you will too. What we don't see, is that he left us for a greater reason, and I know that his spirit will be with every one of us enthusiasts! I'm spending the next hour in prayer for his wife and daughter. Here on our forum, and in our cars, he will live on!!

Ryan its 4:20 am EST and I have been talking with Chad, Michelle, and Thomas (tuuner) throughout the night at a loss for words.....
Ben, it was guys like you with an unbridled passion and respect for your peers that made us create this forum. You have been with us from day one. Always sharing in your adventures and experiences. From being the first to supercharge the 996 cab, to the first Stradale on 6speed, to the first CGT owner on the forum. You have let us all in to your passion knowing that it is our passion as well, and let us remain the great family we all here. Most of us never met you face to face like mysekf yet still feel like you were a dear friend. Passionate, compassionate, and loved. Three words i am sure will be used to describe you Ben.
Ben may your soul Rest In Peace. I know you can read this or at least feel the love we are trying to relay in these dark hours. God bless you Ben, we all love you man. God bless your passenger as well and our deepest condolences to your family as well.

I don't know why I didn't see this earlier, I can't believe it. I read so many of his posts and would pm him occasionally to ask him questions. Never met him but it still hits hard that I won't see another post from him or ever be able to talk to him again. What a tragedy, my condolences to his entire family and the entire community at germantechnik sends our prayers. Such sad news....

Rest in Peace Ben... we will all miss you and 6speed isn't quite going to be the same for me anymore. My condolences for your wife and daughter.

I am still so saddened even in this early hour of the am (East Coast), just waking up and catching up further in this thread and seeing how it has grown overnight..now that I have found out wanted to send out my thoughts and prayers to Corey as well.
