Looking for recommendations on what size Michelin Super Sports to use on 2002 TT to replace stock 18 inch tires. Appreciate any advice.

twin turbo 996 AWD

I was talking with an owner today and asked whether he knew if turbos run sequentially rather first turbo only and then second coming on once boost and revs increase and he said together. Is he right or not sure as I know twin turbo Toyota Supra's do this sequential thing and I thought they would have copied Porsche.

This is a semi educated guess on the turbo question. Th turbo Supra used two differing sized turbos, the smaller to create early boost and the second larger turbo for higher RPM. The TT uses two same sized turbos and addresses the lag issue though their variable vaned turbos which accomplish the same thing. A second consideration is that the Supra was an inline 6 with both turbos running off the same exhaust system, the TT has one turbo on each side requiring similarly sized turbos.

Porsche 997 Carrera S 2005 1900miles used 4L of 0w40

Hi, just logged on for general opinions on my 2005 porsche 997. It has used 4L of mobil 1 0w40 since I bought it 5 months ago. It has only covered 1900miles in this time. its done 106900 miles and was rebuilt at 95,000 miles. Is any part of this oil consumption normal? Im worried specially as Porsche say at most it should be 1L per 750 miles. Any input would be much appreciated!!

1 L of oil consumption every 450 miles on motor rebuilt 11,000 miles ago seems excessive. Do you have details on the engine rebuild?

Rebuild

I bought it from Finlay Gorham. http://www.finlaygorham.com
I don’t have any paper work for engine rebuild so can’t say any details for certain. He bought it buggered 4 years ago I believe and they rebuilt it. It was sold to a guy who doesn’t spend much time in this country, only the summer months so it was left sat a fair bit. I asked was it rebuilt with all new liners, pistons etc, he said all the right things. He has a good write up. It drives very well! Goes aswell as any others I have driven. Even specialist who drove it commented on how impressed it goes for the age.
It Does smoke from the left bank on cold start, from the right too but more from the left. It is white smoke though not blue and it does soon dissapaer after it gets some temperature... 😬

A compression or leakdown test will tell you all you need to know. That is definitely excessive consumption for a near fresh engine.
