The car Is a 1980 SC Porsche. Driven, It was vandalized.
It's not mine but it has been offered to me. I am to determine the value.
It has a smashed rear window which a cinder block was thrown through
It needs a ring and valve job, which entails taking the motor completely out
The rear "whale tail" or spoiler has been cracked off at the base
The key slot has been jimmied and broken
The tires need to be replaced, dry rot
The clutch seems frozen and I 'm not sure if it needs replacement, It can be cracked loose at times
The antenna has been broken off
The battery is dead
It's a pretty Red one though and ran well before this happened 10 years ago and has sat, garaged.

This is all I know about the car since I haven't really gotten to the point of taking it apart.

It did run nicely with these problems when I brought it over to my garage though.

A good rebuild can run you $12K to $15 depending on what needs to be replaced (that's includes splitting the case). If it is only a top end rebuild then that is not too bad. I would guess with the car sitting for 10 years you may need more then rings and valves. Unless you can buy this for cheap I would walk away.

Cheap meaning a couple grand at most. Sounds like a money pit, be fully aware of what you are getting into and want to end up with with this car.

Hey DomeMountain, what part of the country are you in? I'm considering selling my '85 911 Targa. I'm in the Atlanta, GA area.

still worth three or four grand as it sits in parts coukld be salvaged if and big if you do a good deal of your own work...
should your skill set require it to be taken or towed here there and everywhere to get
projects completed ,as above run don't walk ...Bert

If he can pay you 1000$ and the towing, take it.

They are better cars and better options.
