Question about an 1988?

Hey Guys. Some of you might know that I am looking into getting a mid to late 80s Pcar. I cam across this one on Rennlist and I was seeing what you guys thought about this.. Here is the link.

http://www.rennlist.com/ads/

The reason I ask is because I trust you guys to steer me straight. Thanks in advance for any information that you can give me to help me get my first Pcar.

Chris

This is one of the most well taken care of, perfect 3.2 Carreras you will find anywhere. The owner is extremely picky about all his cars and this one really shows it. The paint is exceptional and flawless. The interior is perfect with no wear. The engine looks unused. So don't let the miles deceive you, this car is in better shape and condition than most cars with 25% of these miles.

Full top end engine rebuild done at 84,600 miles. New clutch, new steering rack, new shocks, new brake rotors, rebuilt calipers, A/C recently serviced, etc. There are no stories, no excuses, nothing at all I could possibly pick apart on this car.

Everything works, the white centered Fuch wheels are in perfect condition, no damage, no scratches. Full tool set, jack, and spare have not been used.

If you want a perfect, factory condition 3.2 Carrera that has all records and service done, this is the one.

That is not a Turbo. There are some really nice 3.2 Carrera's there though.

I understand that its not a tubro... but how hard would it be to convert it? I mean money wise. Or should I just look into buying a T? Im not familar with the older Pcars and Im trying to do my research before I buy. I just love the body style.

That white Carrera is a beauty. Doing any type of conversion on it would be silly IMO. If you want a Turbo, you can pick one up for a lot less $ than the cost of this 3.2 plus the cost of a proper conversion.

Luis, I appreciate the help. Can you help direct me further to where a good place to search for one is? I am trying to figure out if they would be a decent DD, and a good platform to upgrade later on down the road. Im going to call the local Porsche Dealorship to see if they have any leads, but past that I am lost. Ive checked Hemmings, Rennlist, and here. I would like to keep the price to around 25,000. I am open to any year also. What would you recommend?

With the 3.2 carreras turbocharging is becoming really popular. Their internals are pretty strong and you already have EFI.

I see ads like this and I can only laugh. There is no such thing as a cheap 911, lol. I have a buddy that bought his '80 turbo for $19k which is crazy cheap for those cars. To this date he has put $35k into it not including the purchase price of the car. He still has a decent amount of work to do too and he already has enough money in the car to buy an '01 turbo LOL. He was so happy he got a great deal on the car but now he wishes he would had spent 35-40k on a nice one that didn't need work. My advice is when you buy these cars get a really good PPI with someone who knows these and after that have a LOT of money in the bank ready to be spent on it. When you take care of them they are very reliable but when they have been neglected and romped on for 25 years you are going to have problems.

ok...see thats where i need help. i can only spend around 25k.. i want one that is going to function properly and acts as a daily driver. which brings me to my question: can this be done with this car (930T) at that price? What is your opinion...if not, then i will wait and get a Pcar when i have more money. i am just looking at getting out of my truck into a good car. thanks man, and i hope all is going well with your resto..
