Who's Got Vanity Plates

Just curious. Frankly, I think most vanity plates are for a@@holes, but then I tend to fall in that camp usually anyway. I haven't posted here in a while cause my 89 C4 has been back in the shop due to a bad supplier. She should be back in my garage this week. While I was over checking out the new engine re-re-build I grabbed this shot of my rear plate. My first choice was taken (89c4), but my second works. Got me wondering who out there does what with their 964 plates?

I am not a big fan of personal plates, but what you have choosen is good. I tells the world what it is. I always worry about being a target for some nut out there...

Unless your getting paid by Imagine Auto or own the company, I would dump the Lic Plate Frame. Maybe somthing thin and black???

Cheers, Keith

I guess he could be happy with the motor we built for him. Just a guess though.

well played...touche!

as for personalized plates I have them on both my cars...but I never understood STATING THE OBVIOUS. I always wondered why someone with a BMW M3 buys a vanity plate that says BMW M3. No offense to the OP...but you own a 89 C4, so why be redundant and say the exact same thing on a plate? I know lots of peeps do it...just never saw the reason to let the whole world know, what the whole world knows.

I can see a clever play on words, a play on words using the car's make or model...or some other "personalized" statement.

Well, I can't speak for an M3 owner, but my rational was simple; its the most asked question... "what year?" My first choice was taken (89c4, which is my personal blog site). Not thinking it would be taken, I listed a few others as alternatives. So now, for the many that don't know, they now no longer have to ask "what year?"

And yes, I am happy with the motor you built me. No need to guess.

Mine says, ME-262........I figured it would make people think a bit....:D

I was never into PP either. But then after the 3 year build I figured it needed something a bit special....Mine is "964 R"....and it is worthy.

I do it, but I usually try to come up with something more original, than restating what kind car you drive/own.

Just to keep Imagine Auto props in the thread I had to put up this picture of my rear spoiler.

The first license plate, I had to do an appeal with the DMV and explain the meaning to them, but I ultimately didn't renew it this year when only track rats thought it was funny...everyone else wanted to stick dollar bills in my pants. :D With baby #2, I'm not getting out to the track as much anymore anyways.

The current one, I like and most people think is pretty funny...Water What?

Like all low digit plates.... it was "Randomly" assigned. In Illinois we have a bunch of different plate types. The original passenger series has much more cache then the plate I pictured (it is a plate series to commemorate route 66).

I have a 3 digit in the original passenger series, and then the same plate in Enviornmental, Organ Donor, Antique (yes, Illinois allows the same plate in each different series, so there are several people in Illinois with 15). Also have several other 2 and 3 digit plates in other series.
