Any Truth to the 991 turbo only being PDK?
PDK will be standard option and the vague rumours that have been heard about the manual is that it's a 6 speed why not use the 7 speed? Anyone hear anything about it...

PDK is here to stay. The manual is DEAD! Porsche will not use it for the GT series, ALL variants will be PDK. it's all about track times now. Manual just can't compete.

I've got a couple of questions regarding the PDK.
Has anyone replaced a PDK out of warranty yet? How much did that little party cost?
How are PDKs doing on the track? Are any major teams using a PDK exclusively?
Just sort of wondering out loud....

people often say this fail to see from the financial perspective. Porsche will continue to produce manual cars when there's demand. it will never be dead even if 3 out of 10 want manual instead of PDK. however, today's PDK is roughly 4k more than manual. what could happen is the manual will become a no-cost option and the car is PDK standard with the price built into the msrp. fact is manual transmission is always gonna be cheaper than PDK & cost less in development. it's all about how to maximize the profit for them in stead of just track time..

Yep, agree. We will be super lucky if the RS variants offer a manual. I would probably take the Jets to win the super bowl next year before I bet on the new GT3RS or GT2RS being a manual....
It is about financial and the cost of the production line only having ONE transmission set is fair more beneficial than the support of the manual only crowd. What you fail to consider is that how many "new" non-manuals guys will buy a GT3 now to replace the handful of us who want a manual option. Personally i love both, but would like both available.

Yes 991 turbo is PDK only as New GT3 according to Road & Track! That's lame!

They will all be one speed. No more years of practicing launches anymore... Or spectacular youtube videos..., except good ones with 10sec 1/4 mile runs, 0-60 in 2 secs, etc...
I don't recall any videos of "hey watch this heel-toe downshift I caught on vid!"
And I surely won't miss the videos "Awww, he only lost it between shifts. It's a faster car, but that dual clutch gives the other car an advantage. Take that out and the race would go the other way."

FWIW, I actually love the racing videos when you see one dash mounted camera and one camera which shows the pedals and all the fancy foot work...
