Update on GIAC Flash???
Can anyone provide an update on the GIAC flash on the 991 turbo s? It seems tuners have had the flash on demo cars for awhile now but no updates. Is there issues? Any hp/tq numbers available? Just seems like along wait with no updates for a product that has been in tuners hands(cars). Any information would be appreciated!

Aren't you more comfortable with a product that is thoroughly tested, as opposed to being rushed to sale? Since they're the only company actually flashing the ECU, development is naturally going to take longer than someone just buying flashing tools or making a piggyback.

Here a post from Tom at Champion on 3/25:
The software is done and ready to go. Right now, they're just in the final stage of programming the switching capabilities. For those familiar with GIAC software, that's the part of programming that essentially separates your stock, pump gas, race gas, valet, and kill programs within the ECU, and allows you to switch between them with the OBDII flashloader.
I don't want to guess at an exact date of release (since I was wrong the last time I did that lol), but I am confident it will be very very soon. I check with GIAC on a daily basis, so I promise that the exact moment I get the green light, I'll pass it right along on here.

Hi guys. I can give you my word that there are absolutely no "snags" or "issues" with the software. Yes, it has been installed on several Turbo S test cars, and now our shop 991 Turbo just as of Monday. I actually have a stock vs flashd 60-130 run on that standard turbo and I can tell you it improved from 8.5 second to 7.3 seconds. More on that in another thread coming up.
To Clarify...TechArt is NOT using GIAC software on their car or in their packages. You might be thinking of the shop car of TAG Motorsports, which is a fellow GIAC partner, and currently running the GIAC flash. Coincidentally, their Turbo S also has a full TechArt body kit on it.
The unfortunate (or VERY fortunate depending on how you look at it) part of a process like this is that GIAC is absolutely meticulous in their approach, and their thoroughness is unparalleled. The tuning part is done...we've got two cars here to prove it. However, there is another entire aspect to the software that requires HOURS AND HOURS of additional programming. That is the switching capabilities and encryption of the different programs (race, valet, kill, etc).
I promise I'm putting a lot of pressure on the guys at GIAC to get the software ready, but I also will not rush them. They are experts at what they do...the process has to go at their pace. But the moment it's ready for sale, I'll be the first to tell you!

I'm a big fan of GIAC. I've used there flash on my Porsche 996/997 turbos & other cars. From other turner companies postings(that use GIAC) it really seemed they were well past the "development" phase weeks ago, if not over a month. I believe Champion said they had it on there car from weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I read a post by Tom/Champion that stated it would be releasing very shortly. Now I'm not sure if GIAC has there own turbo they R&D the flash on before giving it to Champion, or if Champions car was the R&D vehicle. But, unless I'm mistaken, tech art also has the GIAC flash on there car they posted here. Once again I only use GIAC ecu flashes on my cars so my support for them is unwavering. It just seems like they may have ran into a issue(s). Hopefully it's nothing major and everything is on schedule! I'm sure someone from Champion/GIAC will chime in and give us an update.

Trust me when I say that there isn't any one who wants this software available for public more than us. That said, we won't just release something for the sake of getting it onto the market. We're not interested in having the general public beta test our software.
Thanks for the update Austin! It's interesting to know that there will be a difference between the flash for the turbo & turbo s. I've only used GIAC and have loved it everytime. The performance is always great and never any issues! Thanks again for all the work and time you guys put into your software!
Software tuning for the basic pump mode was complete. However, we offer switchable modes. In addition to performance testing, our engineers have to test our code carefully to ensure that ALL lines of switching code A) switch and B) don't lead to a dead end that can cause the ECU to trigger a safe mode. This is all done in a controlled environment on test ECUs with the last step to be power testing all of the switchable modes in an actual vehicle. As both the Turbo and Turbo S are different power trains, this must be done for both of them independently. There is a small hiccup in this last step as our dyno has been down for the past 10 days. What do you mean when you say the powertrains are different for the TT and TTS? I was under the impression that the cars are identical except for the software in their respective ECUs.
I'm also under the same impression that they are the same.
