991 TT turbo problem
Ugh. My car is still at the dealer since last Monday trying to figure out the boost leak problem. No CE lights, either. Boost goes up to 2-3PSI and then a whooshing sound, that's it. Dealer is stumped, they've done all the service bulletins on the car. They thought it may have been the fabspeed exhaust but they took it off and checked it out and put it back on, it's unrelated. BC991 had the same issue and said it was fixed by his dealer but he hasn't been online to respond to my PM, so I don't know which dealer and service tech did his repair in orange county.
I had a few boost leaks on my 997.2 TT but none so far (knock on wood) with my 991. I never saw CEL's either for the leaks- just an obvious drop in power. I would get CEL's for exhaust mods though...
Vic, did the dealer do the fixes on your 997.2s? How'd they diagnose them?
On my 997.1TT the bosch electronic part on the turbo (VTG) went bad so I got a completely new turbo (left side I think).
^^^ What Vic just said made me think of something. When we first got our 991 Turbo (not the Turbo S), we did have a problem with the o-ring on the factory plenum between the intake manifolds. I think we may have replaced it on both cars. Have the dealer check that for sure as well.
No CEL, not sure on the error codes; I'll ask tomorrow. Dealer called and said that the intake hose blew off and then asked if the ECU was tweaked. After I told him it isn't (not yet
) he said that this is a problem with after market tunes. Of course this struck me as an odd comment considering that my car is bone stock and the hose blew during a spirited driving session in the canyons. Stock or tuned it appears to be weak link in the system. I told him to glue it on or do whatever is necessary for it not to happen again!

Anyone have any connections or pull w/ Porsche NA?

Make sure they check that...a couple of the techs in our dealership svc department said they've seen a few cars with that issue I described.
I did Tom, thanks. I emailed it to Bob @ Rizza this AM, waiting to hear back. Did he call you yesterday?
Thanks
Here's a good one - the dealer called and stated that the intake hose is not salvageable because it was kinked during installation at the factory. And here's the best part - a new hose from the factory in Germany is required to fix the problem and it will take 5-7 days to arrive.
The major bummer here is that my Porsche and Lamborghini are down at the same time, both with similar correction time periods. My weekend is shot to hell because now I have to tackle the twisty's in my SUV!
