My Renntech E63 S vs Cobb Stage 2 and GIAC Stage 2 991 TTS's!!!

In looking through my videos on YouTube I realized that My Renntech E63 S AMG sedan has roll raced at the same track both my GIAC Stage 2 991 TTS AND a Cobb Stage 2 tuned 991 TTS at Pocono International Speedway albeit on different days. As the videos show my GIAC Stage 2 TTS pulled harder on my E63 S than the Cobb Stage 2 991 TTS.

The first video is my E63 S against a Cobb stage 2 tuned 911 Turbo S with Klein 100 cell catted exhaust.

My RedGutz GIAC Stage 2 991Turbo S (when it had stock intercoolers and Europipe exhaust with 100 cell cats) raced my E63 at slipstream's roll race event in July on the same track - Pocono International Speedway and crushed it even more than the Cobb Stage 2 991 TTS.

This actually demonstrates to me that the GIAC stage 2 car is making more power than the Cobb stage 2 car as my E63 did not change mods. In fact in the race against the Cobb tuned 991 TTS I was carrying my son who weighs 150 pounds. In the race against my GIAC car I was alone in the E63 and yet my GIAC car pulled harder against it than the Cobb car.

In both races I was driving the E63 and driving as hard as it would go.

Here's the video of my E63 S against the Cobb Stage 2 991 TTS:

That's good enough for me, Giac by a couple car lengths over a Cobb, every one out there put the dyno sheets away, and let's see your time slips or videos
This is how we see who is really faster,

Your car appears to be extremely fast. This kind of healthy competition will keep tuners working hard and on their feet.

It was fast -- on the first run. On the next 2 runs the E63 S beat it due to the big time heat soak. Can't wait to see if the new tune and Champion intercoolers fix that

That was the 4th back to back run, great weather that day. Overall car was consistent. Did about 10 to 12 runs that day, losing 3 times to 2 997 TTS and a corvette. Mememrable competition was your car, GTR, AMG GT and 991TT with Fabspeed mods. The Fabspeed exhaust sounded very good. Looking forward to removing the 200 cell cats and replacing the stock rims this week. Regardless of the Mods, the 991TTS is a blast to drive.

Yes the weather was much kinder to turbos than the July day on which Slipstream's roll out to reach out event. On that day and with my stock intercoolers my 991 TTS lost as much as 6 mph in trap speed on the runs after the first run when it was cool.

Slipstream's next roll race at Pocono is Oct 17th (for cars under 750 hp) and Oct 18th (for cars over 750 hp). RedGutz will be there. That weather should be cool and perfect for turbos. Between that and the Champion intercoolers I am not expecting any heat soak issues which hobbled the car's performance so much at Slipstream's July event.

Who won your race with the Fabspeed 991 TTS?

pasd181 Sep 29, 2015 04:59 AM

I won the race but I believe it was TT not a TTS.

I remember he said he had the fabspeed catless exhaust. I am forgetting if he said he had the fabspeed piggyback or any other mods.

You are going Klein catless exhaust?

In the GIAC video, you stated against the 911 turbo race, does that mean you had 100 octane in the GIAC tune versus 93 in Cobb?

You bring up an excellent point that slipped my mind. In my race with the GIAC stage 2 car I was running MS 109 and the GIAC race tune subfile optimized for race gas. I do not know what kind of gasoline the Cobb tuned car was running. I know that MS 109 and the race gas tube subfile give me the car another 25 to 30 wheel horsepower.

I know my Mercedes had to be running slower in the race against the Cobb tuned car because I had a full-size passenger. But I don't know whether the weight of that passenger would make up for the fact that the GIAC car had race gas.

I'm sure the Cobb and GIAC tunes are similar with the same octane. The only difference is the Cobb has more ability to customize/fine tuning. You can't go wrong with either. Love the AMG, I had a tough decision between that and the RS7.

Hopefully we will find out the answers to some of those questions at our October 7 Atco day. If anyone is interested in joining in the fun please message me. I will be bringing both cars. I will definitely be running MS 109 in the 991 TTS.

Thanks for the AMG props. It makes for a fantastic and very powerful daily driver with just a tune and some mufflers

It would be interesting to find out if the Cobb car was running back to back. If your 991TTS with stock intercoolers had heat soak issues that day, the Cobb car could have had the same issues if this wasn't his first run.

It was the Cobb car's fourth run. There were not long waiting times between runs at the September 20 event but that is a possibility anyway in terms of heat soak.

I will say one thing. The air was a lot cooler during the September 20 meet Than at the slipstream day which was much hotter and in the summer.

It was running 93 octane, and it was the forth back to back run. At the end of the day I switched to 100 octane, w/o changing the tune to a race tune. I had the access-a-port with me, but did not change the tune because it was end of day and I had a long drive back. The car picked up about 7mph by the finish of race.

Overall the Cobb tune with Kline exhust was consistent from the first run to the last and more importantly was a blast to drive.

Also the 991TT had a Fabspeed piggy back.
