911 Turbo vs GTR
911 Turbo vs GTR
I ran into this GTR the other day and we had an impromptu roll race.
Didn't really get to see much because there was traffic but he seemed pretty even with me from 25 to 70.
But as soon as I dropped it into 3rd I felt like I was going to pull away but I had to brake.
Anybody run a GTR at the track? Results?

Depends on the GTR, the one I raced two weeks ago killed me. The Cobb Tune for these cars is much better than what we have on the TTS. They can adjust launch control RPM as well. In any case, here is the youtube and slip for your enjoyment.
Don't get me wrong... there are some really fast GTRs out there...
But didnt the OP run this guy on the street? I live in the part of the world with the fewest per capita fast cars (I'm sure of it, but I couldnt prove it other than to show a picture of the field of Subarus and Volvos l live in). The likelihood that one of us will run across a 9-second or 8 second 1/4 mile car on the street is REALLY low short of stalking GTR club tack rentals, I would think.

You can throw poo real hard and it will go fast, too. Throw it harder and it will go faster still. It's still poo.
Be of good cheer, there is far more to a car than just raw speed. I learned in my hot-rodding days many years ago that there will ALWAYS be someone faster, somewhere.
Faster does not equate excellence or refinement...nor does it guarantee longevity.

That is actually MAP but they labelled it boost. There is another column called pre throttle boost that is slightly lower than 1atm at idle, which is what you are expecting I take it. Anyway, I think real boost would be gotten by subtracting 14.7 from the MAP reading in which case as you can see, until the car starts moving, boost is negative. OCICBW but the tuning experts may want to chime in here since I just put up on the gauge what is in the table from the datalog. In addition, the data isn't perfectly sync'd with the video because with dashware you have to do it by hand and I think I have the car data slightly behind the video here.
