To my point Tom. The stage 2+ has not beaten or matched that time yet that the stage 2 did and it's making more power. Same with the Cobb stage 2 and By Design stage 3 at 10.3 vs not running right due to mechanical issues (minus the BIG stakes cars overseas). It's complicated and will take time for the results to level out. Personally I will be excited when more results come out and the #'s get better here in the states all around. For now I'll settle for being able to deliver a product that makes the customer happy.

+1 bud
Comparisons can only be fair in certain conditions with tight rules and a level field.

I, for example, made it to the second round of trials, but was then beaten by a VERY fast (and cheating, IMO) mustang cobra who was obviously there to win...putting the rules (and honesty) to the side. He hit 160mph traps....10mph faster than he was hitting all day long....it was said to have +800whp.
Tuner vs tuner? I could care less....I'm there to kick *** and take names....which I did. Oh...and have fun!!!!
Awesome! Another NJ guy....any interest in going to Mexico with the rest of us

You are right. I was using regular summer tires rather than the r compound tires which set the GIAC Stage 2 record at 10.265. In the morning when the DA was pretty good I could not launch and was spinning my tires. In the afternoon when the DA sucked but the temps were warm and traction was good I was able to launch great without traction control but the damn high DA hampered me up top.

One of my tuner friends offered me Mickey Thompson Et Streets for the event for my tears and I should have used them. Instead I tried to find r compound tires and did not find a set in time. If I had fixed my tire situation I would have been lower than 10.265 as my time on craopy tires was 10.316.

Living with the fuel system limitations for years now; the game changer on the 3.8 DI motor gentleman is who can first successfully upgrade it and allow for ethanol-based fuel and stock turbos to spin to 25psi at redline and keeping the fantastic reliability of this car in check. We are talking possibly 700+ wheel at that point.

Everything else until then is pretty meaningless.

Cheers.

Well said. I have been asking the Cobb guys for progress on E85 blends and they are very optimistic that it will happen.

Not meaningless to those of us putting money into the cars. My car already trapped 135 back to back to back with only the FVD module, headers, exhaust and plenum. The ET's haven't been that great because I haven't used the best technique or tire setup but I fully expect to get low 10s with PZeros and 137-138 trap out of this stage 3 setup when it's dialed in. I don't really care to have a 9s car since that requires a roll cage at most strips and once you run it, they will flag you. This is a DD but it's fun to do the mods and race the car irrespective of some fleeting "record". It's a badass car, no matter what and not many people have one or can have one. That's enough for me and it's not meaningless to me.

I could be wrong but I think it would be tough doing that "reliably" on OEM unmodified turbos. At that point I think it would be more efficient going with a 68mm setup like CMS with clipped exhaust wheels if you want to retain VTGs and make more power than you are now.

I do agree we need MOAR FUEL and ethanol

I am pretty sure longboarder means the feud of who is the fastest/baddest DFI turbo 911, which has been plaguing the forum lately. I don't think he was marginalizing how fast these cars currently are. Whoever figures out how to increase the fueling wins and will be on another level.

I would probably just get a GTR for that level. They are cheaper and Cobb can do a lot more for them I think. The ones in my class at SAR two weeks ago were as much as two seconds faster than my car. But I am not racing at that level anyway.

I completely agree it would be much cheaper and easier to do that in a GTR, but you look much better in a 911 doing it haha
