Hi all,

Installed the fabspeed exhaust (with cats) and switched to the cobb 2 93 oct map over the weekend and I wanted to share a few thoughts.

Install process went pretty well. A little difficult getting the stock exhaust off with the bumper still on but not horrible. Fitment of the fabspeed exhaust is very good - not oem perfect but very good.

I like the sound the exhaust makes. Nice increase in volume - not obnoxious at all. Car finally sounds like a sports car! There a little bit more drone under load (I think the stock exhaust droned too) but it's still at an acceptable level. I'm very sensitive to drone and generally hate it but the amount of drone in this setup is fine. I think these cars are just made to drone. I had a '15 GT3 prior this car with the SW exhaust which was unbelievably good. This is a more subdued deeper tone. Maybe another 2k of redline would help!

As others have pointed out, the Cobb tune is excellent - this car is so freaking fast!!

Thanks to Fabspeed, Cobb and Vivid Racing for their products and support. I'm very pleased with the results!

Thanks,
Barry

Glad you like it.

Fab is definitely one of the high drone options for the 991.

But if you can live with it, that's great!

What made you ditch the GT3 so quickly?!

I really like the Fabspeed on my CTTS and I haven't noticed any drone. The throaty rumble is terrific.

I have the Fabspeed catless exhaust with Cobb II. There is definitely a bit of drone with this setup.

Don't you think the drone might be from the lack of cats?

I do think the lack of cats adds to the drone. However I also think fabspeed's x pipe design is more aggressive than some of the other brands. For example SDG's tubi catless setup there was no drone, tubi's design looks to have a muffler. It could be also be that OP and my car are cabs, so we hear the engine more.

I think if you use sport mode and manual shift you will find yourself above the drone level RPMs most of the time. It uses more gas but I like running the car there better anyway. I never get out of third gear around town.

Thanks for the tip, yes keeping the rpm higher would definitely help. Since I don't drive my car much, I can live with the drone, it's not too bad.

What he said.

Didn't mean to start a drone debate! I've had much much worse than this setup. But as I said in the original post, I thought the oem setup droned too. The fabspeed setup is like turning the drone from 3 for oem to 4 or 5 depending on rpm, load and throttle input.

Not a huge deal - I have no problem recommending this setup to anyone!
