I like the new center locks wheels, DRL's and that LED headlights are standard.
Also if I am reading right the new Turbo S has different turbos than the standard Turbo. Looks like they use larger impellers.

Does not look like it(excuse my crude quick pic). Looks like the 991.1 tapers more.

Something just doesn't feel right. It's funny, the 991 gt3 first generation comes out with 475 hp up from 435. That is a 50 hp jump. However the Second generation 991 turbo only gets 40 hp from its previous shape. For the horsepower, the Turbo does wonders but it is simply not enough to keep up with the competition.
I remember when the 997.2 turbo came out and it crushed the LP 560 with 60 horses less. Now you get the second generation 991 turbo and it won't come close to beating the Huracan from a roll.
Not only is the HP not enough, but with in the Porsche line up, the performance gap has started to narrow down a huge margin. I hear from a roll on at first gear the 991 gt3 vs a 991 turbo is not much of a difference till around 200kms.
I can't help but feel cheated in some way. Oh well.

The best improvements are all inside:
1. Sport Chrono standard-- FINALLY-- this is the flagship 911 and there is only one transmission, so it is good it gets the upgraded software to run it.
2. ECU modified to over-run the turbos.
3. A driver-selectable driving mode is nice
4. PCM update is cool.
5. A steering wheel with both multi-function and paddle shifters is long overdue.
As always the external .2 improvements are subjective, and some I like-- the sculpted tail lights with 4-dot lights-- and others I don't. What really sucks is the prized GT Silver paint is now a freebie. That was a $3140 option a few minutes ago
Also the configurator does not offer carpeting options for the two-tone leather packages. There used to be a choice of black or one of the leather colors for the carpeting.
As for the power/torque improvements they are right in line with historic bumps. Unfortunately, these bumps are becoming less significant as a contribution to performance. This straight-line performance gap diminished most between the 997.2 and the 991.1 Turbos, and unless there is an electric motor in its future we likely won't see a huge drop in 0-60 mph times for the king.
The evolution is done, so the revolution can begin....we need a leaner and more fit king. The cries of sterile, sportless, GT-like Turbos will continue to grow louder on this trajectory.
I like what Porsche has done and I would jump at the latest/greatest if my current 2015 .1 wasn't late and great enough for me
