Exhaust sound opinions

Anyone done anything like 6 inch stainless resonator to a 2.5 mandrel x system just for sound enhancement and keeping everything else stock on car ......not looking for more performance. Opinions? My first 991 TTS.

May I suggest another option, get a COBB AP and install their stage 1, it will change the sound characteristic of your car.

Plus you get a pretty good bump in performance too without touching any hardwares. I assume your setup with install will prob run close the cost of a COBB AP.

Thanks! Will look into. Can you also comment on your biggest hesitation on 1st option?

I wouldn't void my warranty with a tune if you're only interested in improving the sound and not performance.

Many companies offer muffler only options that should give you what you are looking for.

I'm sure some will chime in soon.

6 inch resonators to 2.5 inch (63.5mm) x system will make your car sound quieter than stock.

The stock muffler has no insulation material at all and only the big pipe has some perforated holes.

Note that the cross section of twin ø50mm pipes equals the cross section of one ø70mm pipe.

With a 2.5inch (63.5mm) X you’re going to choke it a little so it will sound somewhat quieter. With stock cats that is.

Thank you. Getting done today and will have before/after video posted within the next day or so. Already took the 'stock' before video and I'm sure everyone knows what that sounds like anyways. :-)

Before/After video. Video is in 'normal' mode. Obviously gets louder in sport and sport + with additional crackles, pops etc.

Exactly what it says on my very first post in this thread. I really like it but I understand it may not be for everyone.

I actually think it sounds better in 'normal' mode this way than it did in Sport + when it was stock.....but that's just my opinion. :-). I personally prefer the deepness over the turbo whinyness and believe it is the electronics in this car helping and do not think this would duplicate in my old 997.2 with the same setup. 991 TTS is awesome!
