First, all I can say to some of you is: don't sleep on Z06's.
Second, I am not a brand fanboy; I like and respect all cars!!!!
Heads up to you brand fanboys - all being equal, a well driven Z06 can hand over some spanking to a 911 TTS. I own/owned both and like them for what they are.
Case in point, my C7Z ran 9.90's on the stock Michelin cup tires with only a tune (tuned it myself with HP Tuners), CAI kit and UD pulley....all else BONE STOCK...lets see a 991 TTS run 9's with three such simple mods. SEE MY POINT?
Again, don't sleep on them. Both are great for what they are.
To you hardcore Porsche fanboys - go ahead and flame on - my suit is on.
Couldn't agree more with you! Have both, and both are beasts. To get a C7Z into the 9's will end up well under 5k, compared to a good 25K+ on a TTS. And the new Z is no slouch in the ergonomics and comfort department, not to mention looks either, at half the price of a TTS.
I love them both and I drive them both as often as possible...sometimes both in the same day, when I'm lucky enough.
And at 4K miles, my Z still has no rattles or squeaks.

You sound like another car guy and not just a Porsche guy...nice!!!!
Funny you mentioned rattles and squeaks...my 991 TTS has had some little squeaks in the rear seats/panels since new...it doesn't really bother me though...nothing is perfect. On the flip side, the C7Z has been dead quiet thus far.
I have owned (8 Corvettes) total. Great cars for the money.
The way they build power is completely different and they have -C7 Z06- a supercharged big V8. That being said, I had also two Porsches and a C6 (latest was an 08) and there was never match in power, handling, control, traction or anything between the two cars. My C6 couldn't keep up with my 08 C4S.
I am not surprised to see these results.
You are comparing a modded AWD 991 TT/S, with a stock 2WD C7Z. Hardly a fair comparo. The C6Z - which I as well owned for 8 years, isn't in the same league as the C7Z. My C6Z was over 1200 HP.
Add some power to the C7Z (as we do with our TT/S's) and then go race them. It's no longer a flat-out win for the TT/S. Point is, they are very fast cars, not as track capable as the 911's, as they can't complete more than a few laps (the A8's) before they're done from overheating, but they are beasts and very strong contenders/ winners.
That said, obviously nothing beats a 991 TTS from a dig.
I'm gonna drive my Z today and tell her how much I love her!
Adam I did get him outa the hole but only by a little over a car length, so by half track he came around me I was surprised. He was the guy who put the kit tigether and sells them so I'm sure he put an extra small pully on it promotting his kits
Wow that thing is fast. You wouldn't have a problem with now tho
I wanted to run him in my 991 even though he had a good 7-8 mph on me but we never got a chance to line up. Figured I'd lose by a little.

That's awesome, was the 9.90 with 93 octane or race gas?

Nice homie.
Shell 93 oct. I did have some TORCO in it, but it was just for extra safety net. I didn't mess with the timing for the additive.

Thanks Bobby.
MPH was 138 if I remember correctly. I think it could have ran n 1-mph faster. Its a 3LZ (stage 3) which came with all the aero crap. I purchased it used with ~1K miles from a Dealership sales Rep buddy.
PS, don't laugh at my garage rugs. One day my wife decided to re-do crap inside the house and ended up purchasing all new oriental rugs. I decided to use the old units in the garage vs. selling them online. She thought it was the goofiest idea ever, but she doesn't get on the ground and work on cars...I do! The rugs are a nice welcome cushion. I tried the square rubber garage mats; all she did was tear them up with her freaking high-hills. LOL
You should see this same thread over at Corvette Forums...it's a huge pissing contest there. LOL
Not surprising. Most boards don't react well when you post something that doesn't make their brand look glorious. Not everyone appreciates the variety of great cars. A couple of those guys don't understand why anyone would spend any more than $80k on a car and think you're just dumb for doing so. SMH

I remember that exact thread and was quite vocal in it. And I think I remember you posting in it as well. LOL. I made quite a few enemies in that thread.
I recall following that thread as well...many of those Corvette die hards certainly think the sun sets on their mighty C7's..
I also luv my ZR1 for what it is would never part with it. I'm also a supporter of all brands and appreciate our cars for their own attributes and accept their shortfalls...that's what makes life interesting...variety
