VTG 68mm turbos
Hey everyone, i want to upgrade my turbos BUT correct me if im wrong but am i paying 5k+ for upgraded 68mm wheels? What is the difference with the stock turbos and the ones sold by vendors that are bolt on upgrades
|
You might as well do 71mm
Or if you don't not mind a boost controller, do non VTG kit |
Hello,
I believe you have a stock engined 991TT. Our bolt-on 71mm VTG upgrade is holding the Official World 1/4 mile World Record for stock engined 991TT VTG setup. (Quickest and Fastest proved it self many times on track) Ran best of 9.47s @ 148mph and has many more 9,5 and 9,6s runs. You can check this thread below; owner is a member on this forum too. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...91-record.html Please feel free to reach me if you have any questions please! Regards, Emre |
Yes i understand you Sam but thats a built engine, so its a very different story. I was referring to stock engine bolt-on power.

Yes we are done pushing stock motor cars that hard. Heard and seen too much long term at that level including personal experience.
Would be awesome if by any chance you guys tore down a stock engine that's been pushed, to show wear and damage. Might be just not possible since it's a rare thing to have an engine torn down for a health check while it's fine to being with .. but just a thought Thanks |
Good thread , I'll be looking for 68mm or 71mm VGT turbo upgrade next month too

At the end of the day, you can have the best hardware in the world. You still need to have a chef that gets you the best results. That's what you need to research.

We love that there are over 1000 such BV-50 based VTG upgrades out there between a few of us on 997 and 991 cars and they really move some air. I believe there are others that are a little less expensive and also some that are more. Some larger as well so you definitely have options. None are a simple re-wheel like the standard stuff if done correctly. We have some holiday specials and units on the shelf if you are interested and we stand behind our stuff 100% for lifetime! Or if I can help with any questions feel welcome to ask.

This is what I was wondering. So each company has their own design (compressor/turbine wheel) to their suit.

I may have a set of bydesign headers and bydesign vtg's for sale shortly. Less than a 1000 miles. They're awesome to say the least, just going with a bigger conventional turbo.

I would stick to the 68VTG's these are proven again and again. Also, if I am not mistaken the true half 1/2 mile record on a non-built engine, stock PDK and 68 VTG's is still held by By Design. Emre, I'll be waiting for you guys in Naples ;)
