If I get one from showroom now. Sell it within a year. Will I get major deprecation?
let's say roughly 7000miles and in mint condition.
some where between 10k ~ 15k lost?

I would guess it probably goes down by 20% the day you drive it off the lot.

I agree with you! How much are 991s right now at dealer? I am guessing 110~120k nicely equipped.

Suggest you negotiate a short lease instead.. At least you will know the damage to your bank account upfront :-)hilarioushilarious

I would assume a 125k MSRP car will likely sell at $105k private party after 7k miles.

hroussard 01-09-2012 07:54 PM

And...I am assuming you have some serious import / sales taxes out these... What would they be and could you recoup them after you sell the car??

warnica 01-09-2012 08:18 PM

On my 997, lost $25k in 24mos, or about $1k/mo.

JEllis 01-09-2012 09:05 PM

Yes a huge hit

jasebird 01-09-2012 09:51 PM

Never buy a new car if worried about depreciation

+1. Awesome quote!hilarious

If you're asking about depreciation on a base model... you should look at a cheaper car.

You will take a big hit. There will be no discounts up front due to demand for the new 991. So you will be paying top $ for the new toy. If the economy is still "weak" in a year, I'd say $20-25K hit. If demand is high, maybe less. Depending on where you live, tax hit too.

A lightly optioned 991S with PDK, PASM, PSE, Bose is around $115k. thats literally no fru fru stuff like full leather, etc. Its not hard to get it top $125K.

I'm curious why you are selling a new 991 within a year?
