991 Pricing Ridiculous...

Is it just me or is the 991 pricing ridiculous? I have a fully loaded 997.2 C4S Cab and was wondering what the upgrade would cost me. I went on the configurator and a comparable car (option wise) would cost me almost 145K MSRP!! Wow.

Options add up quick and the price is higher to start. Not surprising given its Porsche.

I think with the 991 its important to choose your options carefully and decide what you really need.

I don't think that was for a 9914S Cab, I only see pricing for a 991S Cab..the 4 variants haven't been released yet or announced.

Yea, I would just get the manual sport seats $800 and PASM sport suspension..thats about it. Still puts me more than 10K than what my new 07 997S cost me which MSRPd at just under $90k.

I configured a base coupe and it was $15K more than my 997.2 base coupe. I thought that it was pretty reasonable given the 991 has a number of things I did not get in my 997.2: NAV, Full Leather, PASM, ventilated seats, 14 way power seats.

Yes it's pretty darn high - but it doesn't seem to be negatively impacting sales. And someone with $120k to spend on a passion purchase isn't likely to gripe about an extra $10k or so....

Interestingly enough there isn't another car in the $120-130k range that is similar to the 911. You got your Corvettes at just under $100k. You got your GTR and Merc SL at $100k. And then the Carrera S guys (at least the orders I've seen) are largely coming in at $125-135k. What else is there at this price point? Maybe an R8? meh....really nothing else at or around $130k that is similar.

Also interesting to think that you can build a 911 from basically 100k to 250k.

Never really thought about this until now. Anybody know of a $125-130k performance sports car?

Overpriced IMHO..I would just wait for aftermarket. However, heard the mp3 files of the PSE and it did sound awesome.

totally agree. I built a C2S Coupe with all the performance options, sans PCCBs, but added Full Leather and I was over $130k. It makes the 997.2 gt3 a value buy, imo.

MB CLK 63 Black Series maybe. $130k won't get you an R8.

Most interesting comment is that you can easily have $30k in GOOD options. Will make for a bizarre used car market, which really doesn't give significant value to options.

Sure it will. A 4.2 liter V8 R8 base is $114k. So you can get one heavily equipped for $130k - not loaded but WELL equipped.

But I'd rather a 991.

I still would gripe. It does not matter what I can afford, it only matters of what I think its worth and not feeling as though I am paying too much. The 991 feels like it is way too much.
You do have a point though that compared to cars like the Vantage, R8, or the exotics like Ferrari's and Lambo's; the 991 is a bargain for its performance and comfort. But its still hard for me to get my head around spending 125k or more for a car that is just a little better than the 997.2S I had which costs only 103k.
