Actually I've run 2.3 in my car on R888s on the street with a 5500 rpm launch, traction control off. R888s are sticky as they come, though.

 

That's the fastest time I've heard yet. It puts your average grip for the run at 1.19g, which is sticky indeed. How did you control wheel spin with the traction control off?

 

You don't control wheelspin. With VDC (traction control) on, it ends up interfering with the launch too much. The combination of sticky tires and a very heavy car causes it to launch unbelievably hard on the street. I believe my old 1250 awhp car hit 2.1X on a dragstrip on drag radials with Tym Switzer driving it, but I don't have the actual data.

At the track, none of the big power GT-Rs ever use traction control. It is always turned off to prevent interference. I think a 997 TTS would be launch similarly well with the right tire on it.

 

If I'm understanding it correctly, that means that, after the initial wheelspin, you're getting a tire grip considerably higher than 1.19g. And I'm guessing that AWD is also making a big difference.

Actually, the traction control in my C63 also cuts in sharply when I try to launch it hard.

 

Ya, it initially slips, then hooks....and you are off. I launch harder on the street than the dragstrip because of the wheelspin. On the strip, I bog a bit due to the VHT, which slows my launch down (no boost off the line). On the street, however, the wheels spin actually helps the launch.

You know what is really mind-boggling? Top Fuel dragsters run 0-60 in around 0.48 seconds, and 0-100 in around 0.80.

Can't even imagine how that feels....

 

It comes to over 5g, so several times more thrust than we're used to in the fastest street cars. And I believe the fastest race cars also corner at around 4g, so imagine going through that corner after corner, lap after lap. I'm sure it would scare the crap out of the me the first time I experienced it.

Sir I have commented on what I've seen and my opinion on this, I may add in a manner that is neither condescending nor aggressive as should be evident by anyone whom reads them.

That said, it is out of character for me to speak out in this manner (as it pertains to addressing a Moderator), however I believe some had to speak up... and I did just that.

In closing, I'll address your comments to me as it pertains to what this thread was originally created for... the GTR.
My statements regarding the GTR (presumable the absolute worst you could find) was that "in the end it's a Nissan"...

You were defending Speed21's attacks on Manifold's wife as not being actions "worthy of a ban" in an attempt to make me look like some out of control moderator who went beyond the scope of my authority, simply because Speed disagreed with me. Of course that is pure BS.

Defending myself, I simply responded to your point by making it clear to everyone here that behind the scenes, you were actually positive repping Speed21 and applauding him for his classless comments about his Mrs. Manifold. I just checked. Other than one, the rest of them aren't from anyone you are suspecting. But they are from other Porsche owners. People that I have never corresponded with. You have a continuous amount of positive rep from two specific individuals, however.

Here's a crazy thought: If negative reps bother you, perhaps you should be more careful how you word your posts?

It took Mr Divexxtreme 20 pages before he decided that post crossed the line, the fact that the post (just 1 page prior to the ban) which he quoted in his reply to ban speed21 seems to be irrelevant... now.

I also know for a fact that 6 of the 7 neg reps I've received here are from "friends" and or supporters of Mr. Divexxtreme.
Like BuckWeat here... who left several neg reps to me on this thread without signing them... and got rewarded for it by gaining pos reps from said mod in return.

Aggressively attacking others seems to be a substitute when certain members (associated with this Divexxtreme group) run out of intellectual ammunition....
This disposition is punctuated by the fact that they have to get in that "one last shot"... when someone is trying to take the high-road and comply with this post by IB Tim...

The evolution of this thread since it was re-opened prompted me to show it to Mrs. Manifold, since the poor thing continues to be mentioned. She's in disbelief that a bunch of car guys can get all worked up like this! She appreciates those who have defended her precious honor, but she doesn't feel overly insulted.

Please, for the sake of our collective reputation as cool car guys, can we get back to respectful and fun car talk? No one has been shot here, so let's keep things in perspective.

Actually, it took me 20 pages before I finally spent the time to re-read all of Speed's earlier posts. If I had banned him earlier in the thread, you would be saying that it was premature. I can't win.

Nope. I looked. You only received one anonymous negative rep from anyone having to do with this thread. It was BW, as he already stated. You received a total of 14 reps, four or five of which were negative as far as I can tell from the comments (I can't see colors), one from BW, and three or four from others that I don't even know. The other nine were all positive reps.

If I positively rep someone, it's because of a post that they made. Not because they negative rep someone else. That's a laughable thought on our part. If I want to negative rep someone, I'll do it myself.

Further, I have absolutely nothing to do with any negative reps that you received, nor do I have any association with anyone in this thread. You earned them all by yourself with our comments. Don't blame me if your posts make people mad.

Lastly, my defense of members from your attacks has nothing to do with an 'association'. If someone was attacking you for absolutely no reason, I'd come to bat for you as well.

You attacked me as soon as the thread was reopened. Did you actually expect me to not defend myself? Now I simply respond to your attacks as they come, which you apparently do not want me to do. Stop attacking me and I'll stop defending myself. Simple as that. As they say, "If you can't stand the heat...."
