Glass Sunroof Production Delay?

Hi all,

I have a build that was scheduled complete 7/25 with a glass sunroof. Received an email from my dealer today stating that Porsche announced a '1 month' delay in production of cars with the glass sunroof.

Anyone else hear this?

Took Z delivery of a 991 C2S with glass s/r yesterday. No probs, even in the pouring rain as I drove out of the factory.

That indicates to me that they just have a shortage and they know they need to give priority to those whose plans are locked in with tickets to Germany. Hopefully it means there is no technical issues with the option.

If the OP had posted a few days earlier, I'd have asked about any delays. But, yes, I agree that a last min delay on a scheduled factory delivery would be a disaster.

I have a few from the delivery that I'll post as soon as I can get the time to transfer images to iPad, etc. Big drive to French alps today...in the rain. One thing is that the glass s/r does not make a dramatic diff on a dark exterior like my dbm. Saw a white and a silver with this roof in STR that looked great.

Love the roof though. Open feel at speed w/o buffeting--like moonroof on my 650--is very nice. Even in the rain.

Ordered mine 2 months back with glass sunroof option and just got told by my dealer today that mine is off the production line and waiting now for the shipment date; with some luck, it will arrive here in mid-Aug. The wait is killing me.........

Fellas, pix will take awhile. Had to drive down a long high-center gravel road (grrrrr!!!!) to get to this chateau, so the already dirty 991 is now agate grey instead of dbm. Further, this place has no wifi in the room. I'll try to find someone to clean the car before I take any more pix, and will have to wait for the next stop, a castle north of Turin, before
posting.

On the plus side, the weather cleared, so the 7 hr drive through Germany, Switzerland, and France was spectacular. Car is absolutely flawless--I love it! If you like sunroofs, I'd highly recommend the glass version. Personally, I think it looks great on lighter cars, and it functions quite well. Only quibble is that the shade is not one touch.

PS. Hi katmai! (We met for the first time on the factory tour. God knows how he recognized me.)

OK, here's a couple of images taken during my delivery brief. Sorry that none specifically show the glass s/r but, truth be known, there is no discernible exterior difference on a dark car. Otoh, light cars would have a nearly black roof with the glass s/r closed, alook that I find appealing.

Anyway, here's the exterior of my DBM/2-tone 991 C2S.....

It'll never be that clean again, and, as noted above, it is currently filthy
