Does anyone know how to remove scratches on the PCM-screen of the 991?

 

I don't, but thinking that might be difficult to do would you care to share how you got the scratches so others can be careful not to duplicate it?

I am not sure. I discovered them after cleaning up the interior of the car (including removing fingermarks on the screen with a microfiber cloth). Maybe the screen is very delicate?

I wonder if there any means of polishing the surface of the screen. However, as the scratches are quite superficial and do not affect the function of the touch screen, I certainly do not want to cause further damage by using an inappropriate solvent.

Maybe someone has observed the same problem and knows a good solution?

 

Maybe you could just get Porsche to replace it under warranty.

It's usually pretty tough to scratch the screen on PCM. Maybe it's smudges. Have you tried cleaning with mf towel and glass cleaner? Can you take a picture?

Cannot polish that screen.

 

Unfortunately it's not a smudge. You can feel it with your fingertips that it is a scratch. A glass cleaner did not remove it.

I can try to take a picture, but it might be difficult to reproduce on a foto.

Gotcha...is screen matte or glossy? If matte, then actual screen, and there's nothing you can do about it. If glossy, then it's the protective cover from shipping, and you can just remove it.

 

Thank you. I heard about the tooth paste method, but I do not dare the touch this screen with this unless someone could confirm from personal experience that it does not cause further damage. I think these touch screens have a special coating which makes them sensitive to chemical agents.

FWIW I picked up a screen protector from Salter Auto for the PCM. Like the tempered glass screen protectors for a cell phone.

If it scratches, can be replaced.
