Or mayby I should say: one of the best effords on that subject.

Would you be offended if I said that I expected you to say that?

Admittedly, I'm basing this on your screen name.

Suzy, don't take this the wrong way, but your affection for the California may have inadvertently answered Jasper's question of what it adds to the Ferrari line up. It just seems like it would look a lot better with a female driving.

Jasper, you are dead on with the GTO. I saw a former 6speeder's the last time I was in Nashville. It's definitely one of the best looking GT's ever made.

Arguably one of the most beautiful Ferrari's of all time:

Certainly not an ugly Ferrari by any stretch of the imagination and certainly not worthy of derision about its looks or about its validity as a "real Ferrari":

Not completely on topic, but one of the best looking modern (Italian) cars is without a doubt the Alfa Romeo 8C (which looks a tiny bit like the GTO IMHO). It has a Ferrari engine btw...

Yeah, we've strayed a bit... But since we're there, the wife and I are trying to get a 4C at the moment.

She likes the looks and the dual clutch, I like the power:weight, and dual clutch. Win/win.

That's a very nice car too! I've seen it on the Autosalon in Geneva. Only thing I thing I had to get used to were the headlights with those small LED daytime running lights. But it's starting to grow on me now that I see the car more often. Can't wait to drive it. It will drive like a Lotus Elise or probably even better! It has 240hp and only weighs 895kg which is about 1800 lbs I think. A lot of fun guaranteed!!!!

I know the engine very well, because I had it in my Alfa Gulietta. Very nice engine and it sounds fantastic!

Since we're already way off-topic, what are your thoughts about this upcoming car?

Oh, damn... now we're talking... Yeah, those CF 'spider-eye' headlights on the launch edition may be the item that makes us wait for the NON-Launch Edition. Based on pictures, we may be holding out for the more 'normal' LED straight line pattern (shown in other pics), we'll see if we can look past those. But we dig the exterior and most of the interior (based on what is shown on the Alfa website). Obviously, we would like to see the interior in person, but, like most Americans, we haven't even seen a real version yet - just pics.

Very cool car, though. Your post is encouraging... One question - there is a rumor that there is a 300HP engine possibly in the works for later. Any truth to that? Or would this be higher trim level (I forget the names for those)?

I've heard that too. Alfa calls them "Quadrifoglio Verde". My Giulietta was a QV. I will ask my uncle who owns a Alfa Romeo Dealership if he mayby knows more about an upcoming 4C QV. It would be in the line of expectations for Alfa.
They sort of rely on the succes of this car. Alfa is really suffering the last couple of years. They don't sell that well and they've only two models at this moment. The Giuletta and MiTo which are really good cars, only a bit expensive in relation to the competition. But Alfa has a soul, which most cars don't have in that segment. Unfortunatly you have to be bit of a petrolhead to understand that, so it's not for everybody to appreciate the cars.

To be honest... I really don't like any MB.... I don't know where they get their designers, but IMHO they're doing a very bad job for the past 15 years, with some exceptions though...
And here in Europe MB gets often associated with a Taxi and with, as you call it in the US, trailerparks. But I have to admit, they're very nice cars for a long and comfy drive. But I will only do that incognito. only great thing about AMG's are the engines. They sound very cool!

I would always choose Audi or BMW over MB (AMG). But that's just me... I think MB has a different status in the US than it has here.

With ferrari and lamborghini (Germanized) around it is hard to get excited about an Alfa. Best of luck to them.

They're playing in a different league. Alfa can be seen as the sporty affordable arm of Fiat and Ferrari the luxury brand of Fiat. Both Alfa and Ferrari are owned by Fiat unfortunatly. Fiat is a clear example of how mismanagement can cause its damage on a historical car company like Alfa Romeo. Luckily Ferrari still has the soul of Enzo floating around the factory and they didn't let Fiat interfere to much. Alfa on the other hand is completely Fiatized....

VW is bidding for about 5 years now to buy Alfa without succes. I hate to say t but I think Alfa would be better off with VW as they are with Fiat. Buildquality has been a main issue for a long time and that's where VW's strongest point is.

I hope the very best. Would be a shame to lose a brand with such a great history.
