>>> my girlfriend still has a n Audi A3 which has plenty of room. (Yes I know…... sorry guys, no offense! I have a girlfriend  )

haha... That can be interpreted 2 different ways here in the US.

Anyways, congrats. Glad you can afford two of them. Why not a Cayenne Turbo for a DD. MUch more room there.

Great configs by the way and congrats on the 911_50

Thank you :)

Don't exactly know wich two ways, but I guess you know what I mean ;)

Cayenne is way to big for a little female like me (5'5") and don't really need so much room. And having a convertible is great for a drive to the mediterranean or Italy in the summer. It's a 3 our drive from where we live so that's an additional benefit. Enjoying the sun, the view and the great exhaust sound all at once ;)

We're not thrilled with our Q5. I won't be sad to see it go in about a year when the lease is up. My wife has owned 3 or 4 Acura MDXs so the size of the Cayenne doesn't bother her. She's 5'4" and is old enough to be your mother! I won't be surprised if she goes for a Cayenne next year.

Wow, aren't you the lucky one! You are definitely my hero! A cab and anniversary edition. Life can't be better than that. Congrats and enjoy those 2 great Porsches. I am jealous!!

That is truly awesome and I can't wait to see pictures when you get them. Hopefully the wait goes by quicker then expected.

Acura isn't available here in Europe. And other than in the U.S., the Cayenne is here a very big SUV. We have not that much room on our small roads here in Switzerland haha ;)

Btw... I really like the Q5, especially with the very powerful dieselengine. It's pretty fast, very quiet inside and handles very well. I have the optional air suspension and it really is very comfortable. An 8 hour drive feels like a 2 hour drive when I get out of the car. It does 0-62 in about 5.5 sec and has a lot of torque. I get about 40mpg (17,5km/liter). For me it was the ideal car for what I needed it for. Just are bit of an Audi fan, because of the perfect build quality I think ;)

I've always been an Audi fan but what turns me off about our Q5 are these pet peeves:

1) Sideview mirror is placed in such a way and is of such a size that when turning left it takes up half our field of vision, especially when driving uphill.

2) When the car is in reverse, the radio goes off. Audi engineers apparently think we're too easily distracted that we can't listen to music as we back up!

3) The electronic controls are too cumbersome: It takes several buttons to push to make even the simplest changes like temp, fan speed, radio channel, etc. Way too distracting, IMO. The navigation isn't intuitive, either.

Sorry to go so off-topic but wonder if Suzy agrees with any of these gripes of ours.

Which modelyear do you have if I may ask?

1). I can agree with that.
2). Don't have that issue... maybe a software upgrade of the MMI??
3). You have a point there... But I guess I just got used to it, because it doesn't irritate me. For me it feels pretty intuïtive.

As far as I understand did the US get the new Q5 from modelyear 2013. Here in Europe it was on the market a year earlier, so maybe we're not talking about the exact same car. The modelupdate got some changes on the MMI and the controls of it.

SanibelSpeed Jun 12, 2013 02:30 PM

Ours is a 2012 model year. My wife drives it 95% of the time and she's not as big a complainer as I am, though she's unhappy with those 3 items. Otherwise, it's a nice car.
One more thing I forgot to mention: When I get into the car, my knee apparently turns the headlight switch off the Auto setting. I don't notice it when it happens but at night when the lights don't come on I realize what happened.
