Paint quality of 991s
The paints for cars manufactured in Germany are environmentally friendly. So they are soft.
The paint is usually applied by robots or the body dipped into a paint bath.
The quality is very good but it's not a concours level sand, prep, sand, multi layer paint job with a professional painter controlling the paint gun.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. The platinum silver metallic on my car is just as good as the GT silver on my former RS60 Boxster S, my 997.2S, and actually better than the black I had on my 997.1.
Soft
The paint is definately soft.....
I picked up a 2013 C2 today (from the dealer inventory) and I wanted some of the badging removed from the back. The dealer's detail guy thought he could do it, but quickly it became clear that the paint would have gotten trashed. This was with a heat gun and adhesive remover.
In the past this has never been a problem, I have even done it my self on a warm day with some fishing line.

+1 re my Platinum Silver C2S compared to my GT Silver RS60. Both outstanding.
This sucks. I'm sure there's a remedy. Show it to an experienced paint shop.

Perhaps you should consider prepping the paint (remove swirl marks etc) and apply a coat of Opti-Coat 2.0, which is equivalent to adding another permanent layer of clear.
I hope everything works out for you.
This is exactly why I went with a white car this time around: there's nothing like being able to remove fingerprints and bugs with detail spray and a microfiber cloth without leaving swirl marks.
Speaking of paint quality...
I picked up my Guards Red C2S last week, no detail requested at dealer, and took it directly to my detailer for the full Zaino treatment... He found 7 or 8 brown "dots" running along the right-hand side of the car under the clear coat... I'm shocked the car got out of the factory like that... I am extremely annoyed AND disappointed... I will post resolution after I take it back to dealer.

I took receipt of my 991 Agate Grey car 14 months ago; I asked the dealer not to touch it and I detailed it myself and then went with Gtechniq EXO sealant. I've had numerous 911s over 40 plus years and I have no complaints with the 991's paint other than a little bit of orange peal which I decided not to wet sand out. EXO is a good product, I could have a better show car with a good wax but the EXO is very durable.
Living in the Northeast we have to deal with road rash even if the car is not on the road from December through March; protective film doesn't protect from the worse of it. But Porsches are meant to be driven, so I don't worry about the small stuff - just drive it.
