Road trip

Boon: Jesus. What's going on?
Hoover: They confiscated everything, even the stuff we didn't steal.
Bluto: They took the bar! The whole ****ing bar!
[Otter grabs a bottle of whiskey and throws it to Bluto, who chugs it all]
Bluto: Thanks. I needed that.
Hoover: Christ. This is ridiculous. What are we going to do?
Otter & Boon: Road trip.

Just returned from a road trip with my local PCA from near Philadelphia to Niagara Falls. 15 cars, Boxters, Caymans, 911 s and a Cayene. About a 360 mile trip one way.

Flawless performance by my 991. No hesitation, the 65 to 95 acceleration is almost instant. Averaged just under 32 mpg on the way up driving 'in formation' averaging 10 mph over the speed limit. We were on our own on the way back and got 32.7 mpg with few stops.

Over the border I averaged well over 100 and it seemed like 60.

Sounds like a blast! Niagara Falls is 45 min drive from my house and we go there often (Canadian side) for long weekends.

How long was the whole round trip? Stay overnight in Canada?

Left Friday returned Sunday, stayed at the Roycroft Inn in East Aurorra. Saturday night dined with the President and some members of the PCA Niagara Region. A Niagara member - a winemaker - had 36 bottles of wine with special labels presented to us. I will post the label tomorrow.

All in all a short but great trip.

Funny you should mention East Aurora. Had a trip to Buffalo a couple of years ago to see the Sabres play, we had a Mini Cooper S on lease to ease the mileage on my 911. Garmin took us the completely opposite direction- wife was driving as I had a couple of drinks - the Mini Cooper's clutch died on us at 1am in the middle of East Aurora. I had no idea where that was before. Car was towed to Syracuse. Managed to get to Niagara Falls by 4 am (had to call the pharma rep who took us out and she and her BF drove from Niagara Falls to pick us up) and checked into a hotel room. Thought I lost my wallet but was in the glove box of the Mini - had to drive the next day to retrieve it. Crazy night.

I let my PCA membership lapse but may join again. My region is Upper Canada. Have you done any other PCA activities?

Here's a photo of the wine label created by a generous member of the PCA Niagara club! Our chapter is Reisentoter and the wine was named on our chapter's honor: Rieslingtoter

We are new to PCA. Joined May 2012 and I my my wife and I had only positive experiences

Although it is entirely possible to exceed 100 "over the border" and have it feel like 60, I was driving at 100 kph and it was around 60...mph. The car has a nifty and quick switch from mph to kph

This reminds me that it's the experiences the car enables, not the object (car), that mean the most. Very cool memories, I'm sure!
