So I’'ve had my 991S for about a month and a half now with about 850 miles so I thought I’'d give an update on my experience so far. Of note, I’m giving my break in period 1k miles, and then I can open it up and comment on the engine more. Money2536 got me inspired to do this write up. He had a great analysis and I think these are fun to read and helpful. So as a refresher, I have the 7MT, SPASM, PSE, 18-way seats, and Bose audio.

7MT: Love it more and more everyday. The linkage is great. The clutch is fantastic. I have started driving more in Sport Plus with the Normal suspension setting just for the automatic rev-matching. The “shift” marker in the speedometer for economy shifting is a bit annoying but I do use it here and there. Can’'t turn it off even in Sport or Sport Plus mode as the manual suggests (at least I can’t).

SPASM: I’'ve lowered almost every car I had. Partly, it’s been for the performance benefit and partly the appearance. I’m very much against large wheel gaps. So for me this was an essential option. Stiff rides don’t bother me. I’d rate this ride on the stiff side (I haven’t really used the sport plus suspension setting yet). But the handling……wow. Because it soaks up bumps so well, I sometimes underestimate its capabilities. But when you trust the car and just push it in the corners….holy s*#!. It sticks and sticks and keeps going. I love it! The only negative as I’ve mentioned in previous posts is that it’s hard to avoid the front lip from rubbing. It always sounds worse than it is, but the lip is there for that reason. Steering: This is my only 911 ever. So I have nothing to compare to. The steering is fine. But I’ll trust everyone on here and journalists who swear by the old steering. I don’t know about everyone else, but my fuel economy sucks. I drive the car and I push it. I don’t do a ton of highway driving. So having 14 mpg vs 13 mpg for steering feel loss doesn’t make sense. But again, I have no complaints about the steering.

PSE: Love it. Don’t drive without it. Nothing more to say. Seats: Fit like a glove. Don’t know if the 4-way adaptive seats would be as good. Very individual I guess. I got the 18 way seats as part of the premium plus package, and I do use the ventilation and heated seat functions a lot. In SoCal, ventilation is great for warm days and heated seats for cool night, especially because I rarely use the climate system. I always like a window or sunroof open. Bose: Can only compare to the Harman Kardon in my E-class. Whereas the HK is crisp, the Bose is very low end dominant. Truth is, I don’t care enough to spend the money to upgrade to the Burmester. In the 991, it’s a battle between the audio and the PSE, and the PSE will win each time. That’s the way I like it.

Build Quality: My door panel had a loud squeak whenever I rested my elbow on it. Porsche fixed it by taping a felt strip and reinforcing it from the inside. Just a sign of poor build. But fixed now. Otherwise solidly build. I have had two scratches on the steering wheel. One large one the dealer repaired and one small one which is barely noticeable. I don’t know how they get there. Could be my watch or my nails (and yes I cut my nails). I just notice the leather is very soft. It might feel good but it’s also delicate. I also noticed a nick in the door handle leather. For that reason, I’m glad I don’t have the full leather interior. With black interiors, I don’t think the effect is as big. Truthfully though, at this price point, a leather dash should be standard.

Miscellaneous: I really do like the Entry and Drive feature, but they should replace the dumby key with a push button. They should also make the button on the door handle a sensor like other cars (BMW and MB). The parking brake is annoying especially with manual transmission. I have had the dealer and a car wash give me the car back without engaging the “hand”brake. I don’t like the idea of the car only being held in place by the gear. And this only occurs because the electronic brake is out of the way.

Overall: I love this car. I smile every time I drive it. That’s all that matters.

I’ll post some pics with the tints and 7/15mm H&R spacers soon.

My gas mileage got a lot better after break in. Don't despair on that one.

Hopefully you look at the hubcentric 7mm spacers available, I couldn't get the vibrations to stop with non-hubcentric 7mm. The hubcentric ones are the Brey Krause and a few other brands (someone posted photos on the forums here)

I'm glad I have inspired someone in this world. I stole it from G******* on Rennlist that did a 50 mile review. Great write-up!

Now I want my car even more! I ordered 7MT, PSE, SPASM, Bose, 18 way seats as well and this was a great review. End of April can't get here soon enough! Thanks for your input. Now let's see some pics!

you HAVE to turn off shift assist. I was constantly looking down, taking my eyes off the road at at that stupid marker. Great review. I'm finding the shifts are smoother in sport and sport+ than in standard mode.

Something happened to his post. Last night it sectioned and set-up in paragraphs. I'm sure he'll fix it.

Should be fixed. Something funny happened when I tried to use the iPhone app to edit. That app isn't quite ready for prime time.

I have a 14 C2S PDK Coupe with 285 miles on it. It's my 6th new 911. Very disappointed in the build quality so far. Extremely unhappy with the dealer. Many paint flaws. Porsche's quality has slipped in my opinion.

Besides the paint what else have you noticed that's poor quality?

Flaws in windshield glass, steering alignment off, interior fit & finish, marks in sunroof panel.

Honestly I am very surprised.
