Watch out on rt 78 in JerZ
Don't know what is up, but both last night and again today - saw a dozen police cars making stops - even some on secondary roads. Not end of the month so don't know what gives - maybe a distracted driving crackdown. take it slow!
It was on the news this morning that there is a police blitz on speeding - at least in NY state...probably extends to NJ but not certain:
"NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New York State Police are cracking down on speeding and aggressive driving with the start of “speed week” on Thursday.
The campaign runs from April 17 through April 24 in an effort to reduce speed-related crashes and improve safety for drivers across the state.
“Too often families are forced to endure needless heartache as a result of reckless driving,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.
State troopers are targeting excessive speed, frequent or unsafe lane changes, failure to signal, tailgating, failure to yield the right of way and disregarding traffic controls.
Troopers will also be watching for people who are not buckled up, drivers who don’t move over for emergency vehicles and those who are distracted or impaired.
Drivers could face fines up to $1,000 and add up to 11 points on their driver’s license."

The local cops are in on it too, so careful on secondary roads. I am near RT78 where it meets 22 in clinton. They are on many on ramps pointing into the backside of traffic. hard to see.....

Have any of you noticed if the local police have started using Laser? I know from speaking to one local cop along the Rt 78 corridor that the cost of the lasers are prohibitive, and at the time only state troopers were equipped with them. But this was a few years ago.
I've been hit with laser (V1) from the NJ state troopers, but not yet from a local cop in my area. Reason I ask is that every time I've been hit by laser I was lucky enough to not have been speeding excessively. There is no way I could have avoided getting a ticket if I was in my honest opinion.

It is my understanding that only the state troopers have them in NJ. However, a local municipality may splurge and get one and that is unpredictable...
