Rear end clunking - 2014 991 C4S

Hi

Need your help!

A clunking sound has developed when I pass over speed bumps and minor obstacles. It has become gradually worse and sounds like something solid that "bouncing" towards the chassis. It could actually bounce and clunk back after the speed bump indicating that it might not be related to the suspension. It appears to come from the back/bottom of the car. Sounds like something is loose.

I have attached a soundfile if you want to listen. I put the recorder device on the shelf below rear window and also on the floor behind the drivers seat (taken at two different runs over speed bumps). I think the sound from the rear window sounds strongest.

Best regards
Christian

PS: I had the car elevated and looked around for obvious loose items. Also took away the bottom cover and cleaned it from sand/gravel. Did not improve.

Any luck finding out what the problem was? I have the same exact thing going on.

Another thread that went dead. I hate that.

The original poster hasn't been on in over 1.5 years.

My problem wasn't quite as severe, but I had a clunk at odd times, not just when going over bumps, but just driving down the road. Turned out to be a broken shock absorber. It took them 2 days to find it. I suggest that - if it's under warranty - you just take it to the dealer, replicate the problem for the tech, and get a loaner.

Best of luck!
