Why spend 120k on a 911 when you can get the same thing here...

Anyone checkout the new TT RS:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11405317...rldCarFans.com)
"The body, which is expected to house the marque's 2.5-liter five-pot rated at 408 hp in the new TT RS Plus, will be more aggressive."
Why not save 40k?
Now, we've always said that the new Vette is in a different class...What is Porsche excuse for this beast to differentiate?

Or in the UK its commonly referred to as a hairdressers car!...
BTW, I've owned about 4 Audi TT's and all in the UK!...and I'm not a hairdresser
OP, the car does look good but it's no 911 having said that I'd take it over a Boxter.

The new TT is still based on the same platform (MQB) as the VW Golf and Audi A3. It basically means that Audi grafted a quattro system on a FWD mainstream car, tweaked the suspension and dropped a bigger engine under to hood.
I like Audi a lot, I find that the TT is a cool compact sportscar and will certainly test drive it, but unless there is a significant departure from the previous models, I would take any P-car -even a base Cayman- over it any day.

Ya. I was wondering where the market segment fits for the TTRS vs. the base or even C2S. Give that the TTRS will have back seats and 408hp, the differences are getting slim with the exception of 40k in the pocket.

Or you could get a cayman? It hardly competes with cayman (GTS?? ) let alone 911...thx for sharing.

I had a 2003 tt for several years and it was a really great car.. And when I bought it, it was as close to a porsche as I could afford. And although it is based on a VW golf chassis it handled quite well and was fairly light and it's turbo 225 hp in some ways felt faster Than a NA base 911.. And honestly living in Orange County I saw more 911s and caymans than TTs back then so it was rather novel and I got a lot of comments and looks.. If I ever get a bit hard up financially I'd buy one again..

Audi and me are most likely parting ways for good. They have been very unfriendly to the enthusiast bunch.
To cite a few examples of the many problems I've had with Audi:
They have gone out of their way to void my warranty, TD1. I understand that making any sort of modifications is at my own risk, but most other brands wait to prove your modification is the cause of a problem. Audi has searched out modifications and tagged cars without problems in order to deny any sort of warranty claim in the future. BMW, Porsche, Honda, Toyota, etc. don't do this. Luckily my S4 has been problem free.
They also stiffed me with the cost of a new oil pan on my wife's A4. The claim was that I should never change the oil using the drain bolt on the oil pan. They said they only use a vacuum system. I referred to the manual and showed them countless complaints on the forums of drain bolt failure, but they still stuck me with a $900 bill claiming user error. It is darn near impossible to screw up an oil change if you have done a few.
It seems clear to me that Audi is much more interested in soccer moms than fans of the brand. I could easily see them jerking someone around after buying a $175,000 R8.
