Porsche has just launched a pilot program at the Stuttgart Museum called "Porsche Drive>>>". You can rent a 911, Boxster, Cayman, Panamera, Macan or Cayenne by the hour or by the day. 911S CAB was about $250+ per hour. Better rates for day rentals. Will be interesting to see if they bring this program to ATL when they open their new North American Headquarters next year.

Without a doubt you can, they are most likely getting impulse renters. The cars I saw were fully loaded with all leather. I got to Museum around 10:00am, by 11:30am when I departed all of the cars had been rented. This is purely a marketing ploy to sell Porsches to non-Porsche owners. You mention AVIS, in Germany they are the only international rental agency that rents Porsches. In Stuttgart if you own a Porsche you can park free at STR with AVIS and they will even wash your car for you before you return. Hertz folks told me this...
