Bluetooth Phone/Call Quality
Bluetooth Phone/Call Quality
Newbie here and I just test drove a 2015 Base 911 Carrera with Sport Plus mode for the 1st time! Currently I drive a 2012 BMW 328ix sedan and I am thinking about making the move up this week.
I know this is silly, but I had a question about the bluetooth phone/call quality. This Carrera would be my every day car and I spend A LOT of time talking to work clients with through my bluetooth car speakers in my 328ix.
Obviously the 911 is louder (and more awesome) but does anyone have any feedback for how this will matter with phone calls? My 328ix is pretty quiet inside and I'm afraid the porsche will be too loud for people to hear me or vice versa, even when driving normal. Any thoughts or feedback?
Thanks,

I wouldn't keep the BMW.
Next time take the 911 for a test drive and test it out to see what you think. If my phone is plugged into the port, there are never any issues. Noise is not an issue.
I do get problems with the wireless part of it. Porsche isn't on top of the whole Bluetooth phone connectivity dept. overall though.
There have been many posts about it.

That's a great way of putting it...mobile phone booth. Yea I was thinking if I can't resist this car then maybe buying a Bose Bluetooth Noise Canceling Headset to help out.
I did too in the .2 replacing the PCM 3 times - software seemed to be the final fix. An initial issue with the 991, but a software upgrade has provided a flawless BT experience. I get in and it (now) connects every time without issue.
To OP -
I use my BT phone regularly with no issues mentioned from the "other side." Occasionally the other party will comment that it sounds like I'm going 100 miles an hour. They're usually right.

Genius. As if conducting business on the phone while driving doesn't make people oblivious enough to what's going on around them, you want to add ANC headsets to the mix. You'll be a real pleasure to everyone else on the road. I'll laugh my *** off when you get arrested for resisting arrest because you didn't hear the police siren behind you. Maybe you could throw a iPad in front of you and send some emails while you're driving too.
I sometimes do conference calls while commuting in my 991 4S - no issues with call quality. (If you have PSE, make sure it's turned off
). Another peer of mine has 991 TTS - I called him few times and he received from his car...I could hear him loud and clear as well. As long as there're no hearing impairments, the Bluetooth works absolutely fine. Btw, I had e92 335i coupe before and took calls from its Bluetooth so I could really compare Apples to Apples here for ya! Don't worry, pull the trigger!
PS: I have used iPhone 5, 5S, 6 and 6 plus (yep I have all) without any issues.

This is what I am talking about:

Did it have PSE? If it did, all you need to do is close the valves and you'll have a quiet cabin. If it doesn't come with PSE, just drive under 3,300RPM for a few minutes to avoid opening the valves.
Otherwise, it's a non-issue. I've had plenty of phone calls in the car (business and personal) with no problems.
