CSK 991 C4S is infamous around these parts
I get that once in a while right when I'm coming to a stop. I guess it doesn't bother me that much.

My dealer blames tire shine. Sounds like a bs excuse and my brakes squeak always on soft brakes. It goes away after a good wash. Really annoying if you ask me.

This is a photo of my front disc brake. Other side looks the same. Seems to me like there is some kind of damage to it, and probably the cause of my problems no?

Dealer however says it's normal, but I don't believe him anymore. Car has just over 30k km on the clock, and never been used on track.

Certainly doesn't look right. Have you had brake work done in the past? Could the outside pad have been installed backwards?

The car has had a service before, but they didn't change the pads. They might have cleaned them though. Not sure.

Have you found a solution yet?

Brake noises are caused by vibration. On the 991 the pads are held in place only by the spring clips in the back of the caliper. Various points of the pad backing plate touch this and should be cleaned and lubed with hi-temp brake parts grease. This stops the vast majority of noises.

The OEM pads come with a noise suppression plate on the back of the pad. This helps reduce noise by itself but troublesome squeaks can be remedied with the additional application (spray or tube) of a brake noise product to the back of the pad. It's sticky and helps stop the pad from vibrating in place.

Finally, pad glazing can cause noises especially at low speed. Removing and sanding (roughing up) the face of the pad should fix this.

Have you tried any/all of these methods?

Try a $3.99 can of brake cleaner and spray down the disks to get the gunk off.

Actually the orig video leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly, tHe guy is spraying brake cleaner on the pad and is getting that spray on the paint! Brake cleaner will eat into the paint. No good. Then he is smears wayyyy too much paste onto the back of the pads. A better solution is to use a Very light coating of Copper Paste on the pad backs. I have used it for years on my motorcycles. It comes in a tube and will last you years.
