oil leaks

Has anyone had to replace their oil pan due to "bad" plug threads on a 2015-2016 911? Dealer tells me 6 or so were changed due to brittle threads. My car developed small drip at the drain plug 2 weeks after oil change ???
Want to get to the bottom of this.

Never heard of it. Who did the oil change? If the explanation is brittle threads, wouldn't that be a warranty item fix?

All waranteed. Just seems odd on a car with 5000 miles.

Your dealer is telling you bull ****. Either they threaded it wrong or overtightened it which is easy to do. Human error.

It is possible you are at the bottom. The dealer told you it had encountered other cars with a similar problem. Brittle threads.

Probably not "brittle" thought. More likely just poor quality control on the oil pan/sump plate manufacturing line and the threads were pulled slightly due to a machining center setup problem, or a bad tap.

Sure a tech could have overtightened the drain plug but unless you can sweat the tech who worked on your car until he confesses that's just one possible explanation.

Regardless let the warranty handle this and move on. This is what a new car warranty is for.

Interesting! I installed a L&N drain plug and washer which I torqued to 19lbs per their spec. After two weeks, I developed a drip. I torqued the plug to 21lbs and the drip stopped. Two weeks later, the drip was back, this time I torqued to 24lbs. Its been about 10 days and no drip. I will keep you posted.
