As far as I know, no ECU tune, only piggyback, which I'm not doing...

GIAC now has a bench tune for the S model. Anyone hear any news regarding the base model?

Update, not much to update.

Only GIAC as far as I know have a proven tune. No OBD yet.

Haven’t heard of a mcchip tune in the real world. Ohio tune group announces one but also haven’t heard any testimonials...

Btw, tried to install a bmc filter today. Naive that i am, I thought would be similar to the 991.1. A pain, yes, but feasible.

Big mistake. The wheel arches hide an extra 3 screws, so one may strongly consider removing the wheels for this.

Removing the bumper cover alone won’t cut anymore. Gotta take all that plastic junk underneath the wing and the latter as well.
I mention the above bc it is a step for removing the ECU and/or installing a piggyback.

So, waiting for OBD flash it is or paying someone to remove the ECU. Regardless, if Porsche flashes the ECU is such a pain to re-tune it...

There is no eta from the major vendors. I might go for a turbo (capital T) (or a unicorn- GT3 with touring package) if take as long as I think it will...

Thanks for sharing the xp.

I wouldn't swap for the big T yet. Big thing is coming....https://goo.gl/yvZmQg

BTW, have you driven a GT3? I have and definitely wouldn't DD it in my personal opinion. It's perfect for track tho.

The GT3 with the alleged touring package has a “softer†setup and rear seats. This would be keen to the 911R, including MT only. Perversion for the GT3 police, but makes it more livable. I don’t think it will make it to the US if it ever becomes true.

The X51 is not available for the base 991.2. Porsche won’t upload the ECU with the GTS parameters. One can buy the turbos and install it and maybe use a GTS aftermarket tune. Then the warranty argument is gone. Taking the ECU out for reflashing in case of an update is not for the faint of heart. Not even installing BMC filters is easily feasible anymore (I did a lot by myself on the 991.1, including aftermarket exhaust).

BTW, $7500 is misleading, installation costs quite a lot and depends greatly where you take the car.

John,

After swapping my PSE on 991.2 w SpeedTech my car is not dull anymore! I was thinking the same thing w you, i.e., need the car to be more alive. SpeedTech does just that.

I do not have comfort issue w the GT3 but it is quite loud and angry, especially when in PDK+ mode. I would not enjoy on streets or would be in jail asap w the high rev.

Im however shooting for, powerwise, 500 bhp on my C2. There is a gentleman from Thailand currently around 429whp on C2 base wirhout turbo upgrade i believe. Thats really close. Adding GT3 control arms, roll bars and lower a bit, i truly believe the C2 base could become something fun. My exhaust and the mentioned mods above come to around 121k including car price.

Of course if you have the mean to get either TT or GT3 then...disregard.

Thank you. I assume these are stock GTS turbos? Any more info about these turbos?

The serial numbers match. Im not saying to buy from this weird site, but Borg Warner sells directly. Their site is outdated, might need a call or email:

http://www.turbos.borgwarner.com/en/...uctSearch.aspx

Search for "turbocharger" here: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...A_GB_991-2.pdf

2 turbo serial #, one for base/S and the other for GTS

Would be even more interesting finding out if the Boxster S turbo would fit, that one is a nice piece of a kit ( https://www.xportautoparts.com/oem-p...er-9a212302203 )

At the end of this you can see the upgrade turbos for the 997. Goes from 480 to 575 (up to 610) hp. Hopefully an upgrade will come for the 991.2, rendering this X51 even more overpriced than it is...

What Speedtech setup do you have? Sport Cats and exhaust?

The videos are terrible quality on their site but Ive also looked into this.

I just traded my 991.2 c2S ( had it 3 months, lol) for a 991.2 GTS.. I put down 416rwhp and 412rwtq with the C2S with Fabspeed bypass pipes and the PSE.

The car picked up a bunch of power but the smell was definitely noticeable in stop and go traffic. While the overall volume went up to a reasonable level, It sounded good in the cabin, but I wasn't necessarily pleased with the exhaust note with the windows down and listening to it from the outside(besides the turbo whine which was present all the time). It was very mechanical and buzzy sometimes.

Im thinking of going a different direction with the GTS, possibly the Speedtech setup, but honestly 5k seems unnecessarily expensive considering if you actually call most of the large manufacturers you talking 3.7-4k for a full system including sport cats.

I am curious as to your experience with SpeedTech. With the X51 power kit being available on the S, Im assuming all exhaust and turbo connections on the GTS will be identical to the S, etc.

BTW, for anyone looking at the power kit on their C2S, I can tell you after owning the GTS for a few days the power increase feels much greater than the numbers would indicate. The car feels very fast as it sits, once its tuned and some basic bolt ons, the car is going to be a monster. I wouldn't be surprised if the car is a good bit faster than a 991.2 turbo is stock.
