When will the new 911 come out?

Hello

Random question here.. but..

Will the new 911 come out in 2019 or 2020?

Are there any photos of what this car will look like?

I just saw those "spy" shots too. The new 911 looks impressive!

Here is a good spy video, you can hear the new exhaust.

That's a reasonable guess that matches the 997 life cycle. My personal guess is the Carrera and Carrera S will be available in the US in late 2019 as a 2020 model and the 4 / targa / turbo / GT# and then GTS models will gradually phase in after that.

I would expect the test mules to be much uglier than the released car, so you may want to find the 991 mule for comparison to get a feel. It was rather hideous but most like look of the final design.

One of the more subtle changes that may be quite noticeable in person is the center of the hood looks to be raised to meet pedestrian impact requirements. Quite a few other changes but it is a 911 so any lay person will be hard pressed to tell anything beyond whether the car is a classic or a modern 911.

it looks same to me.

sounds like a couple of cheap vacuum cleaners, maybe a real 991.1 PSE exhaust audio will be piped into the cab? suspect that may required EU approval though.....

According to the article above it will be a 2019 model. On the surface that would tend to imply a production cutover in august when the new models (year to year) start being produced.

But I seem to recall the when the 991 was first introduced (model year 2012 it was a mid year cutover). So it would seem earliest late 2018 to mid 2019..

So you may see a 2019 991 and 2019 99X that overlap.

As much as I live my 991, I'd never purchase that 2019 99X.. I'd give it a year and a half to sort the new car issues. Follow the forums back to the 991 introduction and you find lots of rattling sunroofs, cable issues and gremlins..

The reality was I think the 991 wasn't all that bad, but the 991 was almost a completely new car parts wise.. So how anxious I am to get the new model will probably be based on how much of that car changes.. I'm thinking 2020ish for myself.

When you go to get a new one, expect a very different vehicle. The 991.2 is much more quiet and gentle riding. And because of that, when I drove the base 991.2 it seemed slower than my base 991.1 (although it's not). It is much more of a GT car and the sound didn't bring the energy to me that the 991.1 does. My guess is that the next generation will be the same unless you get the Hybrid version where there will be no noise at all. :)
