wondering if a RWD GTS .2 would take a GT3 .2 after a tune on the gts.
thinking 500HP and 450TQ might just take the gt3 with much less torque?

Maybe in a straight line? When you find a .2 GTS tune, let us know.

We've tuned several .2's (including the GTS) - they pick up pretty significant power & driveability improvements:

Base - +105hp and +135ft-lbs
S - +90hp and +110ft-lbs
GTS - +75hp and 80ft-lbs

Peak torque and peak hp are NOT how you measure acceleration. FORCE is what determines acceleration as FORCE is the multiplied torque caused by all gearing equations across the band of rpms in which each gear uses as the car accelerates. So until you calculate the FORCE produced by each car per gear you have little idea as to the acceleration of each car. So the first question is does each car utilize the same gearbox ratios? And final ratio? And is the outer diameter of each rear wheel the same? What are the weight differences of the cars? How much torque is created at each usable rpm in each gear?

Cutting to the chase, which car would you prefer to own no matter the acceleration as braking, steering, and cornering matter too. Answer: GT3

I get a good laugh every time I see peak HP and torques figures as if they mean much, which they absolutely don't on their own. But these figures are how aftermarket companies suck your money from you. You can make anything a little quicker (keyword is little), but how the power is delivered and how much power is created across the rev range makes the most difference. In the end these are road cars. The more the powerful you make the car the less you actually use of the power when driving on speed constrained roads.

When we tested and developed this 991.2 GTS software with GIAC over the past few weeks, we spent a lot of time focusing on the area under the curve and while peak hp and tq are always on your mind, it's really the overall delivery of power and consistency throughout the rev range that we really focus on.

To say that we use peak hp to "suck the money" out of customers is a pretty unfair statement. When you drive a car (especially a turbocharged car) with GIAC software installed in it, not only do you absolutely notice a drastic change in peak power output, but you also notice the smoothness and consistency of the power delivery throughout the entire rev range, which is something we spend a lot of time on when we work with GIAC to develop new Porsche software.

Hi Tom! I read this with eager anticipation. Can you post a dyno graph? I just checked the GIAC website but it looks like they don't have the GTS loaded just yet...

I think they're in the process of preparing their press release for 6Speed, it should be on here at some point today...

Am I reading that right or is GIAC saying that the GTS produces +25 hp and +45 lb-ft more than Porsche is claiming in stock form? They are using the same conversion factor as the charts from the Carrera S but the Carrere S graphs have baseline figures that are much closer to Porsche's claimed output.

On our dyno, the GTS made considerably more power in stock form than we expected, and a lot more when compared to the Carrera S based on what Porsche claims as the stock crank HP numbers for both.

combatninja has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Every 991.2 with the 3.0L engine produces more power than Porsche claims. They don't want buyers to pass on the 550hp Turbo because the GTS makes 475hp for $50,000 less. They have to keep the pecking order across the lineup. The whole 911 family is expertly configured to suck maximum money out of our pockets.

A stock 991.2 Turbo S gets about 510hp/510tq down to all four wheels. On 91 octane pump fuel. In summer. In Florida.

You might say there's not much difference. I say there is considerable difference.
