New to 993's

How's it going everyone.

I am glad to be among all of you. I totaled my Mazda 3 and now I am looking at rebuilding a Porsche 993 as a daily driver.

My question and favor I am asking is... does anyone here live in the San Diego/ Los Angeles area and willing to look at a couple 993's with me?

Though I am young 22. I am pretty knowledgeable about cars due to my experience working on diesels and a lot of old school Mercedes, but I do need someone who is experienced with 993's to help me look for engine issues and so on.

Need to know since I am going to turn this into a daily driver. I am purchasing it salvaged. (would feel guilty driving a mint).

Post if you are willing to help or if you just want to throw in your 2 cents.

Thanks for considering

How much you looking to spend?

I had a '95 993 C2 (OBDI) and it was the most trouble free car I ever owned. I purchased a 95 vs. the other years because a very reputable 993 car builder told me it was the best year to buy based on his years in the business. Of course it also has to be well maintained and not neglected.

Don't get me wrong I love the power my 996TT has but that 993 was just plain fun to drive and I really regret selling it :(.

Best of luck.

Found One!

Yeah, I was also looking at some 964's but the 6 speed is calling my name. I love sports cars and my backup truck feels like driving a boat:mad:. I found a devastated 993 that looks like it was in a fire on the rear end but engine looks good.

Any hints on what to look for?

She's a fixer upper. Whats your opinion?

Well I have a friend that owes me some body work. So I was thinking about going the fixer upper route. But if I can't I might just try and find a decent 964. I like the way they look more anyways... Let me know if you know of anyone selling I can afford a 964 but a 993 will have to be salvaged for me to afford it. Truly I have a pretty steady income and I am sure I can afford parts so I am not worried. I just want my PORSCHE!!!!!!

you can get a nice 944 turbo for 8k or a turbo s for 12, and you can use the left over cash to mod it

If you do this, could you please keep a photo diary to share with this board? I think it would be fascinating. It strikes me as a money pit but if you go for it then good luck!
