kcphuah, sorry to here of poor luck. What does the PPI report say. Is there any recourse other than your money back on the PPI. Sound like their motto isn't worth a crap. "When Nothing But The Finest Will Do" Have you called Sports Trend?

I personally had a very good deal over the internet (ebay) and saw nothing but photos and the my car was great.

That's interesting. I had them PPI my car and they were actually quite picky. They quoted me like $1500 in repairs that the seller was able to do for under $80, lol. They also said it needed new tires when the tires actually have plenty of tread left. I was buying from folks I had dealt with before, so the PPI was just for extra peace of mind.

I have bought about 6 cars out of state online.....I have learned that when doing a PPI, you can't just ask..." What's the condition of the body?" You have to ask, " Are there ANY chips on the hood?" "Are there ANY dings on the door?" You can always get someone to walk around the car while you are on the phone when doing a PPI. You address EACH body panel individually and the same with the interior. "Are they ANY scratches on the drivers seat?" "Wear on the bolsters?" "Passenger seat?" You go wheel by wheel.......

THATS the only way you will get a 100% ACCURATE image of the true condition of the car. Been there done that. And even then I ALWAYS fly in and pay in person and personally inspect the car.....cause then I get to road trip it home!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune... I think Chris has the best advise, for what you are going to pay in repairs you could have flown there, inspected the car and have them load it on an enclosed hauler and then flown home... Another hard lesson learned..

I had the exact opposite experience in reverse. I listed my 993 on Rennlist and sold it to a guy in Canada the first day. I sent him all service records and receipts for professionally installed modifications since new. I had PPI done at my local Porsche dealer and corrected the minor items they noted. I took over 100 pictures of the car noting any imperfections. I insisted the buyer come and see the car in person but he said given the service records and the PPI he was fine without seeing it. He sent me a cashiers check for the full amount and I sent him the California title. Two weeks later he sent a transport to pick it up. The transport driver documented a full inspection prior to loading the vehicle which I faxed to the buyer. 10 days later when the buyer recieved the car he told me how extremely pleased he was with the car and the entire purchase process. Moral of the story, there are still a few honest people in the world.

Sorry to hear what happened. I've seen some of the cars at Sports Trend Auto and some of them have issues. They look nice upon first inspection, but when you look close at some of them, the flaws are apparent.

Unless you have a contract with the Porsche dealer that spells out what they were to inspect and they failed to do so, forget trying to sue them.

Thats suck, do you know what have the dealer done when they did the PPI? They should have a full report for the inspections.

I'm also planning to import a Porsche to Vancouver in next couple months. Do you done all the doc. yourself or you have broker done it for you?

I think you should post some pics. Truth is, what is horrible to one may be acceptable to others.

Sorry to hear that I live fairly close to them and have been there more than a handful of times just to check out what they have in inventory. I believe I talked to Tom a few times and he said they work somewhat close to Speed Gallery since they are directly across the street from each other. Most of the inventory at sports trend auto are lease returns I believe and possibly auction cars. I've seen cars sit in their lot for months. The guys that work there seem to be nice. Maybe contact speed gallery and see if they can help you out. Good luck with your situation. Update us.

I have bought cars via ebay and paid for ppi's and the fact of the matter is only YOU can decide if a car is up to your standards.

What a nightmare, I am sorry to hear that. I would never buy a car without seing it in person. I don't even want to know how much you paid for it. I am hoping for the best for you but it will be a painful battle.

Realisticly, you probably just need to get estimates to change the things you can change, live with the rest, and move on. Think upgrade...maybe sport seats etc. You have hopefully saved a great deal over original MSRP...so you need to invest some of that back into the car. You're fortunate to be able to own a car like this at all...so make it a project to get it right...restore it. If the dealer or PPI people help out great..if not do it on your own. Do it at your pace.

Agree see it before you buy...fly and road trip. I did and it was a blast.
