NEWB ?'s please don't flame to hard!

I tried the search function, but I may have somehow missed the correct results. Is there a good pre-purchase buyers guide for 996TT's located somewhere on this forum board?

I am looking for both the little stuff as well as the biggies to look out for. Hate to buy a POS!

Anyway, thank you in advance. Sorry I this is a lame thread, but if I can't find it, I assume others can't too.

Thanks again!

Damned if I know about a guide but it's not a lame thread at all. A lame thread is going on a 996tt board and saying that buying a Z06 is the smartest thing ever or vice versa.

Thank you! I have an 03 Murci right now, and want to get another AWD type setup to play with and the 996 or 997 TT seemed like an ideal choice. I just don't want to make a boo boo and by a pile o crap!

A Pre Purchase Inspection(PPI) is your friend.

agreed. But other than CarFax and initial walk around, is there other things to be looking for. You know dead nav units, sunroof issues, those kind of nickel and dime BS that kills what would otherwise be a fun car purchase!

Not sure if a PPI covers Type II over-revs but those are something not to have, and i believe 10-15% of the 996 Turbos had issues with the second gear pop out. Make sure to check for that. Covering those two with a PPI you should be good. Good luck!

Talk to the place where you're going to have the PPI done and ask them if they have a checklist. Make sure they check the body panels and and general condition of the car. You must check for 2nd gear pop out and over-revs like CarNerd said

I used the CPO checklist as my PPI checklist BUT ADDED A DME DOWNLOAD for Over Rev data. Believe it or not, a cpo does not include looking at overrevs!

Good luck

Does anyone have a copy of the CPO checklist in a form I could download? Thanks

crickets......

Getting very close to pulling the trigger on a local car. Clean CarFax, etc. etc. But I still don't feel edujumacketed enough to make a solid choice.

Thanks again folks!
